GYO-er's how's it going?
Fantastic wet and warm weather my way.
* Strawberry plants have about 10 fruit on each (only put them in a fortnight ago) so can't take all the credit
* About a meter long row each of land cress, lettuce, rocket and spinach
* Some peas sprouting near the fence
* Cherries on a relatively new tree
* Ditto eating apples
and I wasn't actually going to do a lot this year!

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
Seriously, if i thought it would do any good, then i'd get my kit off, nip outside and do a rain dance.
Everything still seems to be alive, although my asparagus seem to have taken on the appearance of an old man's todger.
I will report back again if/when we ever get any rain.
Can you tell i'm not very happy?

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
We've had a bucketload of rain over the last four or five days, which has meant that some things are going a bit rampant - my parsnips and potatoes in particular. My tomatoes were looking good until yesterday's high winds blew their growhouse thing over twice yesterday - taking out the butternut squash (which really weren't doing a great deal and now look even worse). The broccoli look a bit tall and leggy, my runner beans are happy, the courgettes are kind of OK, the sweetcorn is hanging in the balance, the peppers are doing grand and my second sowing of carrots, butternut squash, peppers and salad leaves are all coming through nicely.
However, the Mr Bloom's Nursery enthusiast, whose grand plan this all was, has completely lost interest and is mostly concerned with finding snails, carrying them ound the garden and singing to them!

Everything started off fantastically but growth has slowed down; tomatoes are looking a bit pathetic but our spinach has gone totally mad - gonna have beef and spinach curry with it this weekend!

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
I'm not doing well. My rhubarb looks a state, think it is a combination of being trodden on and slugs even though I put pellets down.
Courgette seeds were growing nicely on my window sill and are now dying, I have no idea why. I put some directly into the veg patch to see if I have better luck that way.
I planted French beans, no signs yet but I'm not sure how many a pesky black bird pecked out!

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
My kids are growing strawberries which our neighbour who has turned his entire garden into an allotment gave to them, and we have an apple tree, but apart from that, that is about as self sufficient we get! The kids are really getting into it all though, they love going in the neighbours garden checking everything out!

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
My cucumber has been eaten by something so that's gone.
Strawberries seem to be going well
Shallots - got trampled on and have died !
Red Onions, Potatoes and Chives and Carrots seem to be going okay.
Chilli on window seems to be growing well.
First year I have tried anything though and I normally kill most plants

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
Our strawberries, lettuce, pak choi, kale, sweetcorn, runner beans and carrots seem to be doing well, but Ive managed to kill all of our peppers
Ive started again with them, but Im not sure if its a bit late. I also have 6 runner bean plants which are still in pots which need planting before they die too.

Re: GYO-er's how's it going?
beans, courgettes and tomatoes are doing okay; I planted seeds for peas, spinach and carrots and the bloody cats have dug them all up and shat everywhere so God knows what'll happen there.
