Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
If you have a cleaner, do you pay her when she doesn't work - i.e., when you are away on holiday etc or when she is away? (for whatever reason).
I never have, and just wondered what other people do? In other words, if I'm being less than generous, I want to know!Minky, Big Princess T (16 March 2004) and ickle Princess T (25 July 2007).

Re: Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
I don't have a cleaner anymore but when I did then no, I didn't pay her if she didn't come. The only time I might offer is if I cancelled at the very last minute for some reason.

No, i don't but my grandmother always did. I do give her a christmas present, normally the same as a week's work in vouchers.

Re: Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
I've had cleaners in the past, and never paid them for absences
Except, like One Sock says, if it was my fault and short/no notice.

Re: Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
I have always paid them when I have gone away, as I don't see why they shouldn't work while I am not here. Plus, they have always done extra jobs while we have been away, and I love coming home to a clean and tidy house. When we went away at Easter, we just got in the car and went and my lovely cleaner came in, cleaner the house, changed the beds etc.
Cleaners are like rocking horse poo around here, so you HAVE to look after them, or they leave........
ETA I don't pay their hols.

Christ, Minky you are such a stealth bragger

Seriously though, I don't pay her if she can't come but would probably still get her to come in if we were away.

Re: Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
Depending on how long we are going to be away, my cleaner comes and cleans when we are away - this Easter holidays she was away one of the same weeks as us, so obviously she didn't come then, and I didn't pay her.

Re: Do you pay your cleaner when she doesn't work?
No and I don't pay her if I cancel at short notice either. (which I don't do v often at all - sick child at home is the only reason I would) She either comes later in the week if she wants to or we just skip a week.
She will change my time at short notice or cancel me - as she does with all of her clients that I know (most of my friends have the same cleaner!) But again, that's not particularly often.
I figure it's all swings and roundabouts
