The May Book Club read is...

    The Surgeon of Crowthorne

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Surgeon-Crow...4365885&sr=1-1

I was half hoping that this wouldn't win, as the front cover looks a bit yawn-a-rama, but the reviews looks really good. I hope we all enjoy it, it will certainly be a change from the last few choices anyway.

This book is called 'The Professor and the Madman' in the USA, I think this is the edition that Dr Spouse has? Hopefully it is otherwise the same.

    Happy reading

mmm...interesting. Was checking out the synopsis last night on Amazon. Will be interesting to read something out of my comfort zone.

I don't normally take part in book club threads but I read that one a while ago and really enjoyed it.

I didn't vote, because I didn't really fancy any of them, but I just checked and this book is available at the library (having read the blurb on Amazon, I sort of don't feel surprised at that ), so I've reserved it and will give it a go

I'm about 2/3 of the way through... maybe I might start a discussion thread (if anyone else is ready for that?)

Yes BellaDonna, please do start a discussion thread if/when you are ready. I won't be joining you for a little while, I started reading Nancy Mitford's Love in a Cold Climate thinking that it would be quick, and I am trapped in a world full of nicknames and 12 000 different characters now. See you in a month or so!

You are very welcome Irislili, it's good to try books that you would never normally read once in a while I think.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through, it's on my Kindle and I won't read that in the bath but it seems to have awakened a non-fiction desire as I'm reading Matt Ridley Genome in the bath now as well!
