What makes someone glamorous?

(Not sure if this belonged in fashion or beauty or in here!)

I have a few friends that whenever I see them, I always think they look so glamorous. They always just seem to look so well-presented and I always feel so scruffy next to them!

But I cannot figure out exactly what it is that makes them look like that. It's definitely not totally down to their clothes, I have one friend who always looks fab, even when wearing (Hunter) wellies (which she frequently does, as she lives on a farm). So what is it?

I just wish I looked a bit better, I always feel like I have just thrown on whatever is clean and scraped my hair back as I am always in a rush in the mornings to get ready!

Do you have a glamorous friend? Are you the glamorous one? What is your secret if you are???

I don't have any glamorous friends and i am definitely not.

I think what makes people glamorous is when they are well turned out, so nice hair, clothes and make-up. I also think it is how they act, if they are respectful and nice to people without judging then i think that makes them glamorous along with being well turned out, but if they wear the same sort of things but are stuck up and disrespectful then i think that makes them more snobby rather than glamorous if that makes sense.

One of my oldest friends always looks really lovely. She has a very defined style of her own that she tweaks slightly for the current trends. I honestly think it comes down to the fact that she worked out early on what suits her and she sticks to that.

She is lucky that she doesn't need to wash her hair every day. Her hair is thick and naturally curly but she is great at blowing her hair so it always holds its style and has a bit of oomph. The proportions of her figure suit clothes too. Her makeup is always quite simple and hasn't changed that much since we were out partying every weekend.

She reads lots of fashion magazines and in her teens new everything about all of the supermodels. Fashion and style are a bit of a hobby for her I guess.

She is a really nice girl too. Cow.

(joke btw!)

I personally don't get things quite right. I usually look presentable but I definitely don't wear things as well as my friend. I usually get things around 80% right and 20% wrong!

I agree with this. It's not just about what you're wearing, but about consistent maintenance

Those who regularly have facials, manicures, haircuts, etc. will look good underneath and clothing and makeup they then apply.

It's also to do with good posture and confidence - how they carry themselves and how comfortable someone is in their own skin.

Confident!

I have all kinds of days, but the days I make effort on, wear what I feel comfortable & confident in are the days I feel glamorous.
I always wear mascara & manage to put something on the lips, these are my basics, anything else is making an effort.

I think wearing what you want to wear and being happy and confident in it just brings out the glamour out of anyone. You could still look glamorous, sexy, groomed & well presented in gym clothes imo.

For me, the word "glamour" = illusion, or trying to make people think your appearance is not what it is.

SO someone who is glamourous makes the best of what they have, make up, clothes etc, to enhance their attractiveness. It should look effortless IMO, but I do think many people who would be called glamourous obviously put an awful lot of effort in

People often seem to refer to me as glamorous, but I have no idea why, I usually look vaguely rumpled and cross!

I think some of it's down to clothes (in the sense of understanding what suits you) and grooming, but that's definitely not all of it. It's as much to do with confidence, attitude and good old-fashioned charm.
