Re: What have you read recently?
I must put ROOM on my list as everyone seems to have read it except me, I've read HELP and it was fab, it was recommended and I'd also rec it to anyone.
thanks hun, I will do -I might take that one on my hols to read! I just saw a trailer for a series called 'The suspicions of mr Whicher' which I have the book of but havent yet got round to reading, I normally like to read the book before watching a film or tv programme but I'll have to watch this now.

Re: What have you read recently?
It was so far fetched in places but I was gripped. I sat reading it in the waiting room when I went to give blood. It was at the part where the female doctor was examing him. I had a huge grin on my face. Anyone watching me must have thought I was nuts. His first book sounds good but it isn't available to download yet.

It went quiet for a bit Lomie, but it is back up and running now. We choose a book a month. Look out for for the coming-soon thread asking for suggestions of what to read next month!

Re: What have you read recently?
I recently finished A Fine Balance, which took me far too long because like everyone else I struggle to read for leisure when not on holiday, because I have so much other stuff to read for work. But I still loved it anyway, and the past chapter was always vivid in my memory even if I hadn't read any for a week, which I think is a sign of excellent writing.
I'm about a halfway through Everything is Illuminated then after that I want to start Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, which I've had on my bedside table for months now.I luff you all very much, trolls and all

Yesterday, someone gave me an old telephone directory. To my surprise, I found that by dialling the numbers I could speak to people in the past. I called myself but, when the old me answered, I couldn't think what to say, so I just pretended I'd got a wrong number.

I've just finished 'Room'. I've just downloaded the Reluctant Traveller. it came up when I searched for Bill Bryson, it is really cheap so worth a try.

I've recently read Room too which I really enjoyed.
I have also read One Day by David Nicholls which I did like, I didn't think it was amazing but definitely readable.
I am currently reading Help by Kathryn Stockett, it is one of the best books I've read in a long time.

Re: What have you read recently?
I'm in an autobiography phase at the moment. There's a charity bookshop in town that has a fab supply of them. The last one I read was Andy Taylor's (Duran Duran). It was badly written but a must-read for any Duranie
. AT is obviously under the impression that DD are actually the Rolling Stones.
