I hate inset days! They tell you term starts on Monday and then further down the letter in the small print they tell you they have an inset day on Monday. Why don't they just tell you term starts on Tuesday? I'm glad they do all this training etc. but I don't need to know what days they do it on - it just confuses things.

Oh poor you! Don't worry, we usually have at least one child turn up on inset days, especially when they are like today, not at the start of term.

My friend did this last term with her little boy; she wondered why no-one else was walking along and only realised as they got to the school gates!!!

Have a nice day at home with him.

It does confuse a lot of people, but I expect the reason you are told is that schools have the obligation to notify parents of what is going on. I do think it could be worded differently sometimes to make the dates clearer.

At least you realised before you got to the school gates miss.u

Our holiday list that we get from the school has the inset days at the bottom so its easy to forget about them - would be easier if all the holidays were listed in date order. I do write ours on the calendar but I don't always look at the calendar
