    . Feeling a bit miserable

Made the mistake of reading a load of comments by Daily Mail readers about Myleene Klass and some other woman having their bumps cast, and was uncharacteristically upset by how rude and negative people were. Normally I'm more thick skinned (especially since it wasn't my work they were talking about), but SO many people said they were hideous and revolting. I feel really quite down about it. Just trying to finish a piece at the moment that's taking days and days of intricate painting (not actually a belly, it's a bottom) but it feels kind of tainted after reading so much hostility and negativity towards casting. I know Daily Mail readers do not speak for everybody and I've always said casts were like Marmite and people either love them or hate them, but was there really the need for them to be so bloomin rude and personal about it?

Reminds me of the time my sister had one of my mosaic-covered casts in her shop (so you couldn't even see nipples or anything), and a mother covered her child's eyes and stormed out saying 'YOU DON'T NEED TO SEE THINGS LIKE THAT!!!'. At the time I found it hilarious, but I guess my confidence is on a low ebb at the moment.

I think the pregnant body is beautiful and it *is* a time worth celebrating, whether in public or private. There were people calling the pregnant women in the article ugly and fat! I really hope they don't read those comments or they will feel even flatter than I do right now.

Do not ever read the articles in the Daily Mail. It is for looking at the photos and nothing else. Ignore them, they are tw*ts and that is why they read the Daily Wail.

Thanks, that made me laugh. You're probably right. I got 'sucked in' but it's like a black vortex of doom, gloom and judgemental people.

What Donna said - it is a well known fact that 99.9% of people who comment on Daily Mail articles are completely crackers.

When people make comments like those, they're just showing themselves up. Ignorant pillocks.

    Re: Feeling a bit miserable

I read the daily mail daily and always read the comments because tbh they make me laugh! There are some very sad people out there who have nothibg better to do than judge other people and their lives!
There are some times I have to step away as it can make my blood boil as to some of the complete and utter b*lls they spout!

But they're art! Some people rave over a piece and pay millions for something I wouldn't personally have in my front room for dd to play with! So I would say they just don't get it your creativity and that's ok - most of the people who buy the daily mail where I work are quit old and why would a bunch of older men want a cast of a pregnant woman over their fireplace

And as for the woman covering her child's eyes - what doesn't the child ever see their mum and dad with no clothes on?! I'm not saying I flaunt around the house naked and of course age and gender does come into it at some stage but I think that's the time where it's ok for a child to see a garden ornament, statue or body cast and learn that in some situations it's a beautiful thing!

    Re: Feeling a bit miserable

Thanks everyone, you helped make me feel better. And then I went and recorded a Doris Day number in my bedroom cupboard (my mum and bf bought me a mic and stuff for my bday) which cheered me up and then I worked on the bottom I've been painting a bit more. It's coming along nicely. Am sure the people in the DM will think it's hideous but phooeee to them like you say! xxx

Thanks P. I've done some really posh ones lately and was feeling so proud of them, so I guess it just brought me down to think some people HATE them with such a passion. But it's all a matter of personal taste like everything else xx
