Giant Potted Palm - Frost Victim - What can I Replace it With Please?

Well, after years of growing my palm tree in a giant pot, it sadly succumbed to the terrible winter we've been having. I need to replace it with something quite tall. Any ideas please? Not an acer as I already have one of those. Plus I'd rather not have anything that sheds its leaves. It's just a twig over winter. Thanks.

I really fancy getting a bay tree this year - we get through a lot of bay leaves! Any idea if they're hard to look after?

Thanks, I like them, but the pot is very large in diameter. A bay would be dwarfed in it. I need Something quite large.
