Anyone organised or taken part in a toddle waddle?
I hope you don't mind me posting but I wondered if anyone had organised or taken part in a toddle waddle. I really want to organise one for charity but have never taken part in one and wondered I could please pick some brains about this if possible. We have a local park (small) which would be perfect but I am wondering about distance as the age range could be quite big in terms of manageable distance (say 18 months - 4 years)?
I have tried googling but can never seem to find the nitty gritty info about distance and how the toddle waddles are set up. I am thinking we would need a PA system with some music and of course drinks. Maybe prizes for various things such as largest amount of sponsorship. Thanks for any help that anyone can offer

Re: Anyone organised or taken part in a toddle waddle?
We run a charity and we are planning a fun run this year (with a one mile toddle run) its all very much in the planning stage at the moment, but we have a fantastic committee member who is organising it all on our behalf. We are using a local farm that we used last year for our successful 'Bungee Jump/Fun day' - we will have a small 1 mile area cordoned off for the toddlers. We will then have a 5 mile run, which we have invited local running clubs etc. to support.
Organisation is key. Lots of sponsorship packs. Leaflets on charity. Can you make it into a fun day? BBQ, stalls, things for kiddies to do post 'waddle'? A grand draw always raises lots of money.Mum to 2 beautiful girls

I have taken part years ago in the barnados toddle with my two, G was in a buggy and J walked, it was just a small playgroup thing so not a huge group, it was based in a small village so they walked through that with buckets and some of the mums, playgroup leaders went in shops to get donations. The kids got a medal and certificate at the end.

My youngest son's nursery is doing this (he is 2)
They are walking to the local park from nursery which is at the most half a mile so they will take pushchairs as well in case they get tired and then they are having a picnic at the park before returning back to nursery. The whole thing is lasting about an hour and a half.
I would imagination the children won't really understand what's going on but just be excited about the trip out. I suppose you could do sports day type games at the park if you wanted - egg & spoon, sack race, dress up in big wellies and hats and rund 50 metres type race, relay race etc or a treasure hunt?
Oscar's nursery also has a "super hero & princess theme" so they will be doing it in fancy dress

Thank you ladies, that is a big help. I guess I need to measure the distance around our park (tis very child friendly) and figure it out from there. Good luck Chickenlips, you do such fantastic work for Camille.
Good ideas on the extras too. I have fundraised before (nearly new sale) and found that the raffle and teas/coffees/cake were the biggest ways to raise money. I like the idea of a certificate and a medal, that is very sweet and everyone gets something.
Thank you!
