Aid to prevent scar on child's face?

DD fell this morning on the way to creche, so i had to bring her to A&E where they glued her forehead

Once it 'heals' what is the best thing to use to try reduce scar (if any)?
Any suggestions? I *think* i may have read that rosehip oil is mean to help?

    She is almost 4 btw!

    Thanks

Bio-Oil is supposed to be good for scarring. You can also get a silicone sheet specifically for it too.

Bio oil or sudacream. Only apply once healed and try and apply frequently but make sure its 'dabbed' well in each time. The 'dabbing' action activates the healing process!x

    Hope your both ok xx

Oh bless her - hope she's not too sore.

BioOil is meant to help with scars - not sure if it can be used on 'new' scars iykwim or for children tho.

Yes rosehip oil does work to prevent scarring; I think it has some similar ingredients to BioOil. You need to be careful how you apply any of these things. Gentle rubbing in can help but anything more vigorous might break the new skin.

Sorry to hear about her fall - hope she is feeling OK now

Vitamin E cream is good too, I used it when I had a mole removed and you can hardly see the scar now Poor little girl

Lulah had a massive accident 2 years ago Calgal, she needed massive taping to a cut that was about an inch long, between her eyes to above her eyebrow (Harry Potter look out).

I am amazed at how well it has healed. All the Damsels told me it woudl . I used Bio-Oil once it had healed - really massage it in to break up the lump under the skin.

she'll be ok. Honestly, you wouldn't believe the difference to Lulah, hope that your little one is the same.

Bio oil is the holy grail. Everyone should have a bottle as its so universal. What is imperative with scar tissue is to dab it on. When my nephew was attacked by a dog the consultant said both sudacream/bio oil did the same job but it was the 'dabbing' technique that really showed the best improvements!

    1. bio-oil
    2. massage it in- the motion is thought to help break down scar tissue
    3. apply a sunblock for 1 year

Poor little girl- hope she is ok!

S had a big war wound on his forehead about the same age. I used Savlon spray-on plaster and you can't see any form of scar at all, except a vaguely light patch when he's ill, for some bizarre reason.

some gentle friction might help as well once it is well healed - rub across the scar, but don't be too rough with it. Maybe do it when you are using the bio oil?

exactly. Certainly not before the scar has formed!

Definately use sunblock on it every day, once it has healed - new scars should not be exposed to the sun.

I am not a Bio Oil fan (I don't like mineral oil, and the perfume in it irritates my skin), but you can get vitamin E oil in health food shops which is on scars, as is this stuff (recommended by plastic surgeons). My plastic surgeon told me that most of the benefits come from the massage rather than the stuff because it helps stop the hypertrophy.
