Couple of BF questions - bitten nipple and when to drop feeds...help please!

You'd think I'd know this by now having breastfed 3 babies already

Anyway, alice has just grown two sharp little teeth and the other day she bit me so hard I screamed She hasn't done it again - I think I shocked her tbh - but it's still extremely painful, both to feed her and when it rubs against my underwear. Is there anything anyone can recommend to help it heal, and should I still feed on that side, or should I just stick with the other side for a while?

Also, she is 7 months old and fully weaned on 3 meals plus puddings. At the moment she feeds at 7am, 11am, 3.30pm, bedtime and once in the night (I know I should cut that out but tbh its easier to feed her for 10 mins and go straight back to sleep than it would be trying to get her to stop). I am finding that she doesn't really want the 11am one and it puts her off her lunch - would it be ok to drop this one now, or does she still need it and I should persevere with offering it?

    TIA!

Have you tried lasinoah for the sore nip at all , I would still feed on that side if it is'nt too bad have you tried a bag of frozen peas or similar to help soothe it , as for dropping feeds I would just be guided by her if she is eating a varied diet with lots of milk, cheese and yoghurts I see no harm in her dropping that feed , I have always fed dex on demand and there was never really a set pattern until he was much older so if he wanted a feed mid afternoon he had it if he did'nt he did'nt he changed his mind like the weather lol still does !

I remember Lulah doing the same thing to me feck me it HURT. I screamed the house down!

I second Lansinoh and also Kamillosan (both of which I have and no longer need you don't live closer).

I'm a bit vague on feeding now but tbh if the 11am feed is interefering with her lunch I'd drop it.

Tabitha dropped all milk feeds at 8m and you know the size she is, hasn't done her a jot of harm. In fact I'm sure at 7m she was just on first thing in the morning and last at night - but every baby is different and I actually do think that was probably a bit unusual.

    hope your heal soon.

I dropped Emma's 11am feed at 7 months once she was eating three meals consistently

She has been on three day-time feeds since then (7am, 3pm, 7pm) but I'm about to drop the afternoon one I think as she eats a lot and is putting on a lot of weight. I stopped breastfeeding when she was nearly 8 months but was still feeding her in the night if she wanted it up until then - like you said, it was just easier to feed and get her back to sleep than fight it.

You have my sympathy re. the biting - it's the main reason that I stopped! I used Lanisoh which helped, but I don't think it was ever completely pain-free after she got top and bottom teeth.

Mine went down to 3 feeds a day when on solids - and around 10/11 months neither was really interested in a midday feed any more - they just kept pulling away to look around, wanted to sit up etc.

Now they're both 16 months and tend to have a feed just before going to bed and usually a feed in the morning before their breakfast. If they don't have a morning feed, I try and make sure they have plenty of cows' milk to drink first thing.

On my phone but I followed gina ford and stopped the 11am feed once h was on protein (7m)
Now at 9m he has a full feed on both boobs at 7am and 630pm with a small drink after his lunch time nap (@3pm)
With meals he has water from a sippy cup.

For the bite I'd use kamillosan too. And maybe one of those cold compresses you keep in the fridge. Or cabbage leaves?

H bit when he was getting his top teeth (had two bottom ones) but like most things, it was a phase and now with six teeth hes fine.

    Good luck and HTH

Cheers girls. Knew I could rely on Damsels!

I actually have some Kamillosan that I bought when I was feeding D 6 1/2 years ago, totally forgot about it as haven't had to use it with the others. Just fished it out and - poss TMI a slathered it on and it feels better already

Re the feed, that's reassuring that others have dropped that feed. Alice is dinky but chubby iyswim so she is definitely getting enough, her legs are so so chunky
