    Yeah, theft and random acts of violence on a stationary car is what we're worried about. I think I'll tell her to ask her mates if one of them can be the named driver on the policy and get it transferred to them instead in the short term, before they are sold. GAH. Tis so horrible thinking about things like this, but got to be done I guess.

    Mr S also says that you can insure a provisional driver (e.g. if you can't drive but can get a provisional licence) but it's costly and not all companies will do it.

    Was about to suggest the same - I was insured as a provisional for 2 yrs before I passed my test
