Mince - again, stocked up at the weekend because it was £1.19 per 500g pack
    chickens
    Nappies
    Bags of walnuts/apricots
Fruit juices in small or large cartons - I love the red or white grape juice, vitamin juice and small cartons of pure juice 99p for 5 cartons.
    Fake flash wipes are brilliant
They do a yummy fromage frais set yoghurt which has a layer of fruit on the bottom 25p each
    Milk £1 for 4 pints
Cheeses are very good, we like fake Boursin in a tub
Garlic bread, lasagne, crumbed ham, salami, bacon
    Apples
    Pears, carrots, onions, bananas
    Croissants
Mini brioches with choc chips (individually wrapped, pack of 5)
Pasta sauces, mid range, NOT the 35p one (TASTELESS)
    Crisps £1.85 for 24 packs
    Spaghetti 45p per pack
ladies razors are v. cheap and good
Eggs 6 free range 85p or 12 caged for 85p
Cereals - cocopops v. authentic, strawberry cluster type cereal

I hear they are currently doing muller yogs 6 pack for half price. I am visiting tomorrow, I hardly ever visit Asda now. It is definitely cheaper.

They do half price offers every weekend on meat or other stuff, and regularly discount the brands, like Heinz/Muller/sliced cheese like Gouda/Emmental etc.
Quite a lot of those things you've listed weren't available when I was in there this morning

    That's a bit naff!

    My recommendations are:
    Nappies
    Bacon grills
    Mens thermals
    Coke/Pepsi is usually cheap
Chocolate sandwich biscuits (think they are Dutch)
    Dutch waffles (called caramel wafers)
    Cold cooked meats/salami
    Microwavable steamed puddings
    Museli bars

My parents reckon the frozen seafood mix and squid is good too

    I agree wholeheartedly on these.

    Also...

    - The chocolate mousse is lovely and doesn't contain gelatine, like most other ones seem to. Can't remember the name, though.
    - Natural yoghurt
    - Mr Choc peanut bars - taste just like Snickers and come in big packs of 8, yum!
    - Tinned tomatoes
    - Lasagne sheets
    - Picfrisch cheese spread (like Philadelphia)
    - Crefee garlic soft cheese (like a garlicky Boursin)
    - Mussel and smoked haddock chowder

Oh, and in the last Observer Food montlhy Taste Test, their Primadonna Olive Oil (£2.25 750 ml) scored as highly as one 6 times the price.

I made a special trip last week and stocked up on that plus some of their cleaning stuff, which is supposed to be good.

TBH, I have always found their fruit and veg. utterly shi!te with a very poor shelf life, so would never buy.

    Re: Lidl - what's good?

Just searched for this thread as I remembered it being here. I have been popping in to Lidl since DD had a Proviact yoghurt at SIL house. They are either vanilla or natural with a layer of strawberry, DD loves both. They are 99p for 4.

Just had an individual creamy raspberry yoghurt, it was too sweet though. Tracked it on My Fitness Pal and it was over 200 cals for a little pot. WOuld rather have had .

Their orange high juice was only £1.09, it is up to about £1.45 in Asda. The blackcurrant was dearer though so perhaps the Lidl price will rise too.

    Re: Lidl - what's good?

I've given up on our local Lidl as a bad job, there is nothing there that I want, the fruit and veg are awful, too. I think the thing is I don't buy a lot of stuff in packets (and definitely no nappies or wipes ) - I want decent meat (but have a brilliant butcher) and fruit and veg, really. Oh and tins of tomatoes, I buy a lot of those

We have an Aldi opening quite near to us soon which I prefer

    Re: Lidl - what's good?

Cucumbers are only 59p (90p in Asda) and they had really nice looking baby plum tomatoes for 99p a punnet. I've been paying about £1.70 in Asda for those. Blueberries were under a £1 a punnet too.

I was really impressed with the fruit and veg today but other times it has been naff. I wonder if their deliveries are infrequent.

    Re: Lidl - what's good?

I found that the fruit and veg looked fine, but all went off in a day or so So a waste of money as it all ended up on the compost heap and I had to go out and buy more.

    Re: Lidl - what's good?

I buy fruit and veg from there as a top-up but always use it quickly and it's fine

The Crusti Croc crisps are utterly delicious. As a crisp addict I am always on the search for the perfect crisp and these are some of the best. The paprika flavour is subtle (a bit day-glo colour though), the crisp in thin and crisp and non greasy. Yum.

Hot cross buns are nice but very flat - half the height of a normal one so you get fewer bites to a bun sounds silly but I'm always left wanting another

Nappies, liquid soap in fancy bottles, salami, slices cheeses. They often have deals on muller yogs. Bottles of German lager are cheap and good - I'm having one for breakfast tomorrow!

These have 30% off at the moment, 69p for 4 really nice yogurts.

I popped in yesterday as their high juice is still cheap.

I bought a box of 12 mixed ice creams for £2.29. They are like mini magnums in milk, white, plain and almond. They are gorgeous.

Their dry roasted peanuts were very cheap. DD loves their salted twists (similar to cheese straws). I ended up spending £22. Bi normally only buy juice. I noticed that small wholemeal rolls were cheap too.

Our store has a new bakery. They freshly bake crossiants, pain au chocolat, crusty rolls, etc.

Their 'salad dressing' (sounds like it'd be like salad cream, but is really greasy) isn't worth getting.
