Lidl - what's good?
Following on from TopStar's thread about Aldi

What is Lidl like? Anything to look out for? There is one a mile from us, so I can easily get there

Re: Lidl - what's good?
Nappies and wipes are brilliant, salami is excellent and a fantastic price, fruit and veg is pretty good too

Fruit and veg, salamis and cold cuts, cheese, yoghurts, fruit juices, pickles (their beetroot is spanking gorgeous!), biscuits and cakey stuff. Oh, nappies but probably not in your shopping bag!

Re: Lidl - what's good?
No, no need of nappies

Sounds like it's worth a visit - I will pop over there the day before my Tesco order arrives, then I can cancel anything that I get at Lidl!

Re: Lidl - what's good?
I was wondering the same and searched have to see if there was an earlier thread.
I have pasted it below. There are a couple of LIDLs within a mile or two of where I live. And since I enjoyed a selection of cheeses at my aunt's house the other Christmas I keep meaning to take a look see. But neither LiDL is in walkng distance. And we don't have a car. So either I'd have to take a bus or get a taxi home.
We usually shop online from Ocado (Tesco unreliable in my area and stopped using Sainsburys as they ended up sending far too many substitutes). Have done a comparison and I'd save £5+ if I swopped back from Ocado. That's not a big enough incentive for me, so I am wondering how much do you guys really save when shopping at LiDL? I might go to our nearest one for a nose - to pick up some cheese, cold cuts etc but am not expecting to get my weekly shop from there.

Re: Lidl - what's good?
My MIL swears by the washing liquid (Formil). I have used the non-concentrated version and the smaller concentrated ones and they are both utterly excellent. I stock up on them, they are more than half the price of Persil.
Plus the bags of dried cranberries and dried apricots are fabulous and really cheap.Minky, Big Princess T (16 March 2004) and ickle Princess T (25 July 2007).

I find their washing powder and dishwasher tablets to be really good too.

Re: Lidl - what's good?
Thanks LibertyGal - I was too lazy to do a search

I don't expect to get my whole shop there, but if things we spend a lot on (fruit, yoghurt, cold meat) are cheaper, then I'll get them there, instead.
What about loo roll/kitchen roll?
