Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
yeah right I'm doing a maths degree
Can you please help me with this, it seems a bit too good to be true so I'm wondering if in fact it is
Through Quidco with the Carphone Warehouse you can get a Nokia 2330 on a 600 mins per month plus unlimited texts for £30/month plus a free laptop.
If you go through Quidco with O2 for the same tariff its £35/month with no laptop.
What am I missing here?
Is it usual for the carphone warehouse to be able to undercut the actual networks?
Am I so stupid to have only just realised this?

Thanks and be gentle with me, its late and I'm very tired

Re: Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
The carphone warehouse get paid by the network per connection and they will sign up twice as many people as an actual network website will because customers can pick from the networks!
I would be wary though as the Nokia 2330 is only £20 to buy on pay as you go and the laptop will be worth approx £250-£300 so you would be paying £720 (if its a 24 month contract) for a £320 deal

Re: Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
Thank you
See thats what I needed someone to work out for me
god what am I like
I was thinking of getting it for DH as he's on a PAYG at the mo and seems to be paying much more than going iyswim? and I wondered if it would be more cost effective to get him a pay monthly but they do seem to be fairly pricey atm - god I so wish I could make a decision on certain things
Also, although its a £320 deal you're also getting all the minutes and texts too
Thank you Louise

Re: Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
I'd have a look at getting a sim only contract, where you pay the monthly rental with no phone but you can cancel with 30 days notice. You tend to get more minutes for less money because the network don't have to factor the cost of a handset into the tariff.

Re: Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
I used to be PAYG but changed to contract last year. Better phone. Blackberry on 900 minutes and unlimited texts for i.r.o £30pm with Orange.
Does depend of course on which networks cover your area best. Laptop offers tend to mean that you pay more - the laptop isn't really free but if you need/want one it can be a good way to get it I guess.libertygal

Re: Dumbo alert - Carphone warehouse help please
Thank you
but then I'd have to buy a new handset too as his is very erm basic
Could definitely be an option though, thinking about it in the long run as the cost of the handset etc. etc.
Yes, you see thats what I'm thinking
I do need a new computer, which I'll start another thread on now and I thought this might be a good way of killing two birds with one stone - but then again, I may end up regretting paying out so much and having a computer thats just alright
No, you're all absolutely right, I shall keep looking
Thank you sweethearts
