    Guitars for 3 year olds?

Toby wants a guitar for christmas - any idea where to get one from? (one he can (hopefully & in theory) learn on, bearing in mind he's a teeny-weeny 3 year old)

Specialist music shops might have them - the one near us definitely does child-size guitars that look like you could learn to play them.

Matthew has the rock-star one from ELC but it's just a toy really, he can't actually play it

DD got one at 5. It was actually from Toysrus but is a proper guitar. However, she finds it really tricky to master any kind of chord fingering yet, despite how keen she is. It has been harder and more fiddly for her than I imagined so I would probably wait a bit longer if I were buying for another child.

Having said that, he will now probably turn out to be a natural guitar genius and I will rue my words as I see him on the telly making millions :)

I'm not that bothered about him learning to play it yet, but he needs to be able to play it iyswim...

He's always running off to play the (very much real) guitar at baby group & is adamant that he wants one (oh & according to him so does Nikki!!)

Yes, music shops definitely sell them Or you could always get him a eukelele - Max loves playing DH's

ELC used to do an acoustic guitar but it was useless - we had to return 3 of them last year as they wouldn't tune properly. I notice that they're not selling them this year

    We got this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bontempi-Cla...8&sr=8-2-spell

for my DD for her birthday - she only ever asks for one thing and for her birthday it was a guitar (for xmas she wants slippers!). I'm really impressed with it, though she hasn't actually learnt anything on it she does enjoy "playing" it. She plays it more now that she has a strap for it - we got that from the local music shop - as she can now stand up and play it.

A friend who does play has kindly tuned it for us, though no doubt it is now way out of tune again! I'm sure my 3 yr old would just about manage with it and in the future I'm hoping that one or both of them will want to learn on it with a proper teacher.

ASDA are selling child size guitars in pink or blue. They are £15 each or £20 for 2! I want to get some for my girls, but they only seem to have the blue ones in at my local store....

Mr S got one from a music shop that was closing down near his work - definitely another vote for checking out music shops.

    Or eBay, maybe?
