    My chunky charlie's birth story.

I thought i would get this down before a senior moment kicks in and i forget something!

My due date (28th September 2010) came and went without so much as a braxton hicks! I wasnt overly suprised as my previous two DD's were both late so this was kind of the norm for me. At 4lweeks i had my sweep with high expectations from the MW as she did my previous sweep which was successfull! She said me cervix was unfavourable so induction looked likely.

The day after i had a show and started to experience pains approx every thirty minutes but they disappeared after a few hours. Tucked my girls in bed wednesday night then my contractions started again at 9pm. I went to the hospital too early in my previous pregnancies so decided to wait and see how they progressed. Contractions then became more regularly at 6mins apart. By midnight they were every 5mins apart, decided to get a bath to see if the water helped. My next memory was watching The Hustle on BBC3 whilst biting the cushions on the sofa I then had some tummy trouble and started vomitting, which again has been a pattern in previous pregnancies. Contractions were now coming every 3-4minutes and i was struggling so phoned labour ward. She told me to go straight in. I phoned MIL to have the kids but she had her phones switched off so had to phone my best friend next door who kindly took both girls to her house, whilst i was muttering something along the lines of i didnt think this was a good idea anymore DH then drove us to the hospital(felt like we were in a porsche not a mondeo!) with me throwing up in DD1's lunch bag. We had to go through A&E as it was 2.30am which was highly as i had to pass all the lovely people i work with. DH nearly tipped me out of the wheelchair as he was going that fast to get me to the labour ward!A poor woman was being carried on a stretcher in front of us, also to labour ward, every time she wanted to push we had to reverse back to a different corridor to respect their privacy and her dignity!(luckily she made it to labour ward before baby was born!) On arrival the lovely MW examined me and to my relief i was 6cm dilated-i was convinced id only be 2cm and told to go home and take paracetamol. I then sucked the life out of the gas and air and drifted in and out of sillyness over the next two hours. I felt much more in control this time and my MW was just lovely. By 4.30am she agreed to examine me again and i was 8cm so she agreed to break my waters-again even this was much better than id experienced last time. Unfortunately baby had passed meconium and was in distress, again same as my previous two pregnancies. I had to be monitored from then on,knowing full well that intervention was on the cards to keep baby safe. Luckily contractions stepped up a gear and i wanted to push. After 10minutes of pushing my beautiful boy Charlie Richard (after his daddy) was born on 7/10/10 at 6.32am, weighing 9lb and 4.5oz. He didnt need resucitating like his sisters which was just overwhelming. I was able to text my friend the lovely news so she could tell the girls as they woke up. The placenta decided it wanted to stay put though and had to be removed in several pieces

Hope it wasnt too long and boring, lovely to get everything down and look back on my beautiful boy's entrance to the world

A huge big thanks to Vienna for being fabulous and looking after my girls
