Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
Yes, that would bother me a bit, if it were true.
To think that along with my own three corporeal children I have some poor lost soul to worry about...
I don't quite get this "retreading" business in our entity's case, though - how is spiriting objects away, then returning them a few minutes later, or dropping them down out of the air in front of me etc. retreading steps in a past life?
I also wonder why we never had anything happening until about five years after we moved in here. I don't know what triggered it.
Well, "Mary" sounds pretty benign! Perhaps some spirits are actually happy to remain earthbound?

Woah tell me more about what has happend its facintaing!!
I'd get someone to come to you if you feel its in the house though.
It's pretty easy to find the history of you home start with your deeds! In our old house which was 2 up 2 down there were once 15 people living in there 14 members of a family and a lodger? Lord knows where they all slept as it was tiny!!

Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
Thanks again for your replies and perspective, ladies.
I have taken them all into consideration. However after some deliberation I've decided to hold fire for now. I did have an opportunity to see someone on Monday, but I've decided not to just now. Maybe I will in the future, if any activity resumes.
I emailed the guy who'd seen the medium in Knightsbridge, to get his perspective. He's advising against it as well. He replied thus:
"About your ghost- and clearly you have/had one, I wouldn't bother with a medium. The chances of stumbling upon a good one are slim I think and I agree with ****** that it doesn't sound like a worrying situation. I only went to one because I was so freaked by *******'s death at the time. No, I didn't give my name- I booked it through a friend. Anyway, it's perfectly understandable to feel disturbed by the idea that there are almost certainly unseen energies around us. Experiences like yours have been well-documented over such a long time, that it seems impossible that they don't exist in some form or another.
Feeling disturbed by the idea is only one perspective though. Sometimes when I work I get a very strong feeling that I am not alone in the room- but I find that I quite like it. It's a bit similar to that sensation you get when someone is standing behind you- you can sense their presence without having to see them. It sounds a bit daft- but I even sometimes ask for advice if I'm stuck for ideas on something. This doesn't always work but if I am 'in the zone' writing-wise it invariably does.
The fact that you strangely 'miss' your ghost, not having had any signs of it for some time would indicate that maybe you're not as disturbed by the idea of it as before. I've decided to embrace the idea and even regard it as fact. The possible flip-side of a quite natural fear of invisible spirits is to feel comforted by their presence. I really don't mind being watched over. And I believe now that these energies can play a proactive role in events, how we are feeling at a given moment, and so on. An unexplored science maybe."
That - and you ladies' replies - have given me some reassurance.
I am still bearing in mind the "lost soul" theory, but I hope who/whatever it is that was trying to get my attention will understand me not acting on it yet.
Just as well I've got my head around the idea and accepted it now. DH is going away on business for a few days week after next, and I really can't be being scared in my own home, at my age (40 on Monday
).
Thanks again.

Personally I would ask your local riest to bless the house, any house that we have moved into has been blessed, I would never contemplate visiting a spiritualist/medium, I personally think they take advantage of vunerable people. This is my opinion, which obviously is different from others...

Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
Nicola, I did actually consult a priest today, not because I particularly think our house needs to be "blessed", more because I wondered what their advice would be. Predictably all I got back was a load of patronising bullshit - he even suggested I should see a doctor.

I mean, no offence - I was brought up Catholic myself - but I don't need that sort of crap. Not when my DH and I both know that what's been going on is real, not imagined or perceived. I'm just so glad that he has experienced things too, so I have someone to back me up. Honestly, I'm sick of the attitudes from ignorant people who haven't got a clue, and just because it involves something that they don't understand and have never experienced themselves, just poohpooh it. I think they're just bloody scared.
I *might* try visiting a Spiritualist Church some time, although finding the time isn't easy as DH has little enough time off work to look after the girls.
It's not as if it impacts on my everyday life particularly, but I do have an enquiring mind - okay, I'm insatiably nosey
- and I just can't help wondering what it all means. But maybe I will never know the answers - not in this life, at least.

I do know someone in Hamilton who's very good if you 're still wanting to persue it. Not wanting to alarm you but sometimes the 'spirit' is trying to get your attention & activity can start like this and esculate if not released. Sometimes its to do with negative ley lines - you can get good info on this from this web site. moonslipper.com

Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
See, that's just it - it hasn't actually escalated in intensity or frequency in the three or so years it's been happening. If anything it's quitened down. Maybe the poor sod has given up trying to get my attention.

Forgive me if I sound rude, but when I hear talk of ley lines and such my first thoughts are, what a load of new age hippy shit.
Sorry.
But then again, I'm the person who sat over three and a half years ago listening to someone telling me perfectly seriously that her aunt was psychic, and so-and-so (a family friend of theirs) had "come through" a couple of times, and thought, "well, yeah, these gypsy types, they're into all that weird shit, aren't they?" And now I'm the one smirking on the other side of my face, because I've had all these inexplicable happenings, which are apparently caused by a spirit, or at least I'm led to believe they are, in the absence of any other explanation.
So is your friend in Hamilton a medium? Because what I'm seeking, if possible, would be someone who might be able to identify my wee "chum".
"It" doesn't bother me, and I don't or need my house blessing, or spells chanted over it, or anything like that. Just to find out who it is, and is there a particular reason they've been doing all this. Or do they just like to see me scratching my head.
Again, sorry if I've been blunt, and I do appreciate your (and anyone else's) suggestions and offers of help.

Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
Have just come back from a reading, my mum and sis had one too - and 100% not convinced - for a start off he brought up two things he clearly pulled from convos we had during his 'cleansing' fag breaks between each reading - plus my sis was last person out of the three of us to be read and he a) thought our dad was still alive and b) mentioned she wasn't ready for children (has just had one) - only 2 or 3 thngs out of 30mins he said to me related to me and even then would say ore coincidence than anything
He totally used observation etc and how we dressed/talked and so on and this guy was very highly recommended

Re: Thinking of seeing a medium - thoughts appreciated
Hi manclass, that isn't really the sort of thing I am after - I'm hoping for some form of spirit communication rather than psychic predictions - but yes, I agree that so many of them are shit, and use fishing techniques and guesswork. I'm aware of that and I reckon I could spot that a mile off.
Anyway, I've thought, "F*ck it," and booked a reading at a church in town for Saturday 9th next month. Apparently their policy is that if you're not impressed within the first ten minutes, they'll refund your money, and I'll hold them to that. I phoned using my mobile, gave a false name, haven't left a contact number, and will be paying with cash, so the medium in question won't know a thing about me. If they come up with anything that I recognise then I know it will be 100% genuine.
Jaywalk, thanks for your offer, but I can't travel particularly far very easily most days, hence my opting for someone more local.
Oh well, I'm not expecting anything much. I'll see.
