Troops more needy than pakistan flood victims?

A friend of mine has just posted this on her status update

The government
announce that they are going to give £60 MILLION to Pakistan, We have
Troops at war in iraq & afganistan without proper equipment.....
Yet we donate millions to other countries before helping our own
first...... 99% of people on facebook won't have the guts to copy and
repost this...!!!!!! WILL YOU, I thought charity be...gan at home

My reply was this

While I agree that our troops are terribly under equipped I do feel that if we all helped our own without helping others then the world would be a very sad place and people in pakistan really do have nothing at the moment. We are after all all human beings.

It made me quite mad, I really don't like this "helping our own" attitude. Although pakistan have some Taliban supporters it's not the Taliban we are helping, most of the people affected by this disaster are normal every day people like you or me.

I HATE these updates!

Last week someone put on their status "our old people arent getting an increase in their heating allowance this year but there goes the government doubling aid to Pakistan. Lets get our priorities right eh?"

Unfortunately he just so happens to be my cousin so I cant scream what a bigoted simple c*ck he is without risking a big fall out in the family.

Idiots.
