    What age for CBBC/CITV?

We have freeview ATM and the only 'younger' channel we have is CBeebies. Prob Is though the signal is terrible so it's pretty much unwatchable. All the other channels are ok (typically) and we've gravitated over to CBBC this afternoon but some progs seem ok but others seem far too old.

Anyone know what age it's aimed at?

We have the same problem, CBeebies doesn't work when its cloudy round my way! CITV is rubbish, there are more adverts then programmes and the kids moan about it! No idea what age CBBC is aimed at but my lot don't mind watching some of the programmes.

Wikipedia says CBBC is aimed at 6-12 year olds. Getting Cbeebies when we're at my dad's means the freesat box ariel needs to be put in a completely different place to any other channel - it's very irritating! J's not really ready to make the switch though - CBBC seems much more shouty!

Oh ok. Not toooooo far off then I guess (for DD anyway)

I was wondering whether we needed to look at getting Sky back but I guess it's only a summer hol thing anyway I guess as DD will be starting school in Sept and DS doesn't really have the attention span yet.

Emily watches CITV sometimes, she loves Horrid Henry and Finders Keepers - also they sometimes have 'Mini-CITV' on during the day which has programmes aimed at CBeebies age kids (Spot, Pocoyo and the like). It's usually only during term-time though. She's not keen on CBBC yet though so I reckon she is still a bit young.....

Does it matter? It wont contain porn, swearing or violence so they'll either enjoy the programmes or find them boring.

Theo watches a bit of it I think- but in the last 6 months he's gone back to just watching Peppa pig & Ben & Holly's little kingdom.. Which is sort of aimed at younger kids than him.

DS1 watched a cbbc prog when he was 5 and had nightmares over the scarey babboon who popped out from nowhere. I dispute what you're saying, it can matter to a sensitive child.

Don't think that's necessarily the case.....E is only a few months younger than Theo and she loves both those shows. (my almost-teenage niece loves Peppa too, mind......)
