Open University - Digital photography: creating and sharing better images

Has anyone ever done this course before? With my birthday coming up I am debating asking for money so that I can enroll on the October course, I'd really like to start a hobby and after being lent a SLR camera and having a lovely time with it on holiday i'd like to build on that. The course reviews on the website are a little mixed but overall pretty good so it looks like a good option, however with it being quite a bit of money I'd love to hear from a damsel if it's worth it!

I'm interested in the OU course as I hope to go on and do more courses with them in the future and it would be nice to start building course credits!!

Is this the T189 course? I have considered doing this but have heard mixed reports about it, some people say the tutor feedback is not very good (in some cases almost non existent) and that it is more based on feedback from others who are following the course at the same time as you which is great if you have a proactive group but not so great if you have a group that is quite quiet with each other.

I think some of the Damsels in the photography section have done this before so it might be worth asking in there.

Ive done it, and I think its great for teaching you your way round your camera and the basics, but that's all.

There is little relationship with a tutor - you add pics each week but thats for the other students to look at and comment on, and that was a huge bugbear of mine! The only time you get any feedback from a tutor is at the end, when you send your 10 photos in, and that is about 2 sentences. I think you could probably find the same info online and in books tbh, its just having it all in one easy to follow place
