Teaching them to wipe themselves- how?
I just can't imagine DS wiping himself.
Weirdly, as he is very tall and looks 5/6 years old, and is such a clever kid in all areas, wiping is something I just don't think he'll want to or like to do..
But seriously he needs to, before September when ge starts school, and also just in general, I'm so sick of wiping for him, he does like 3 big poos day (WTF?!?)
So I was hoping you ladies might have some advice?
He's never tried to do it- I just imagine so many skidmarks- eeeeww, when he does start himself..
How do you teach it? How long before they grasp it etc...?!
Any help would be appreciated

Re: Teaching them to wipe themselves- how?
This may be TMI but when I taught the boys I sort of explained to them a wipe action and told them to look at the paper after each wipe; if it is soiled then they should drop it down the toilet and wipe again until it is clean.
Good luck.

Just take the through it supervised, step by step - everytime and they get it eventually although occasionally they just cba and don't bother !!!!!

Kandoo wipes might help.

I'll try that Aurora but eeww I just know he won't get all iof it -not all the time..
Most of the time his poos leave nothing to wipe, like the first wipe is clean??
But sometimes it takes like 6 times to get all off - sorry way TMI!!
would wet wipes work to start with?

Yes the wet wipes do help, but then there's the danger they'll rely on them. and when you buy them read the pack - not all of them are flushable!

Re: Teaching them to wipe themselves- how?
Wet wipes would help but I just started with toilet roll as that is what they'll have at school so I though best to start as we mean to go on.
Really, it isn't as bad as it seems.

I need to do this with maisie, but she is so not keen on learning. She says 'I'll learn tomorrow'. I too need to get it cracked by September.

Re: Teaching them to wipe themselves- how?
Wierdly at 6, Elena's still a bit hit & miss (knows what to do, but is lazy) but at 2.5 Abigail has it sussed! I have no idea how to do it other than explaining & letting them get on with it. Kandoo's can be useful as they are novel enough to encourage them to use them.
