    Another Mooncup thread

Sorry. I'm dimly aware we've had lots already. Well, here's another one...

    I'm having Problems.

I've got size A. I've had 2 kids by section and I'm 40 so I thought - no brainer, right?

I've cut progressively more and more stalk off but still it leaks. It's sodding useless. Putting it in is no problem. Taking it out is no problem (OK, it hurts, but it's no problem otherwise) but it just leaks. It gets to about 2mm full and then leaks profusely, it might as well not be there at all.

I emailed the mooncup people but they just said to cut the stalk off (I have) and practice (I have) and get it to "sit lower" (any lower and my camel would have a third toe) and - oh, surprise - try the other size (oh, buy another mooncup when this one doesn't work? Er ... don't think so!)

    So, they're useless.

Anyone else had problems and overcome them, or am I just a wierd shape?

Sorry you're having problems with it- it sounds very annoying.

I have never had a leak though with it- and I *think* that size A is the bigger size, so don't think buying another one would help.

When you say it gets to 2mm and leaks, do you definately have a time where it doesn't leak? Or is it that it's leaking anyway and it just happens to catch 2mm of it? (If that makes any sense to you I'll be amazed- sorry I've had 1.5 glasses of wine!).

Hey, I've had The Mother Of All Kirs, so it makes perfect sense to me (hic!)

Re: when it leaks - it depends. Sometimes there is - oh I don't know - up to 1/2 hour where it doesn't leak. And sometimes it seems to leak pretty much straight away. It's v sad. It's one of those closet hippy things that is right up my street in theory.

    It's an alternative to tampons

I dunno then redhed. Have you tried giving it a little twist when it's in?

I'm going to have to try one I think. I'm having terrible trouble with tampons now that I finally have AF back.

Well, now I've cut the damn stalk thing off it takes me a good 5 minutes to get hold of it. Twisting it sounds hellish difficult. But I'll give it a go!

If I don't post at any point tomorrow, I'm still in the loo....

TMI alert* but have you made sure there is a seal all the way around the cup, when in.
Does it leak more after the first time or is it after the second or third time it happens?
Is the leakage more to do with bits the cup hasn't collected and escapes down the sides? Alert over*

Not so much TMI as NEIFMTI (Not Enough Information For Me To Understand)

Seal? Am guessing you do not mean fish-eating marine mammal. I guess there's a seal all the way round. There certainally aren't any gaps or draughty parts. Maybe I should look with a mirror or try to blow a hairdryer up there?

It leaks more after the second or third time. To the point where after putting it in 3 times or more it stops working altogether and I give up and get out a tampon. But I don't think stuff's getting past/down the sides, it just doesn't "feel" like that iyswim.

It's all very puzzling. I have always feared that I had a mutant minge.

This could be a very stupid question but is it possible it's got a tear in it? I can't think of any other reason it should leak so badly

Mine leaked a couple of times when I first started using it so now I run my finger round the rim of it to make sure it has unfolded properly. It's a bit awkward but seems to do the trick.

PS Is it awfully wrong to laugh at the phrase mutant minge
