    My poor little girl!

Have had a rough couple of days here with Emily....it all started when we had a bit of a disturbed night on Tuesday. Normally she is a very good sleeper, wakes once for a feed towards the morning and goes straight back down again, but Tuesday night she woke up four times.

Initially I thought it was because she had hardly touched her bedtime bottle that night and she must be hungry, which in turn had screwed up her sleeping cycle, but then yesterday afternoon she started coughing sporadically and had a runny nose. She woke up very soon after she went to bed last night, I resettled her but then she woke up REALLY screaming. We gave her some Calpol which had the effect of making her throw up her entire bedtime feed (which she took properly last night) and of course this made her even more distressed.

Eventually we rang NHS Direct who suggested we allow her to sleep upright and persist with the Calpol and fluids. We put her in her pushchair and she stayed there sleeping and waking till around 4am when she was once again wide awake and screaming. Put her in her carrycot with the mattress elevated and gave her some more Calpol about 5am and this time it stayed down, and she conked out about half an hour later until 8.15 (and so did we!)

Anyway, took her to the doctor this morning and he said she has an upper respiratory tract infection, fortunately not serious. He's packed us off with saline drops and also some moisturiser for a mild rash she had on her chest. She's now fast asleep in her big cot which she hasn't done for a day or so as it's been uncomfortable for her with a stuffy nose.

Poor little thing is miserable and exhausted - she normally sleeps 11 hours a night and last night she slept around 6. I'm tired too but I don't care. I just want my little girl to feel better......

    xx

Hope she feels better really soon and that you all can have a good nights sleep.

Just looked in on her and she is still fast asleep and seems to be breathing more easily than she was before, even when she was elevated. Fingers crossed she'll sleep it off.....
