C V info help please!

Just a bit of advice concerning Mr.N's CV. He has put his personal info on (like co-habiting but not married and one child) on his CV. My mum had a peek at it and said it was old fashioned and might go against him... just wondered what you thought?

I agree with your mum, I just don't see that it's that relevant these days. however my DH recently asked his dad to review his CV and he said it should go on. DH's Dad is a very succesful businessman in South Africa with his own companies so maybe he knows better. All of the recent CVs I've seen for contractors in my department do not have this info on.

IMO you should not put anything on a cv that you are not willing to be judged on. Recruiters might not intend to judge an applicant on their marital status etc but I'm sure they register it on a subconscious level.

You do not need information about marital status and children on your CV, and employers should not ask you about it/for it, as if a prospective employer then rejects your application, they run the risk of being accused of discrimination due to family circumstances, which is illegal!
