I'm not easily shocked but this story really did shock me. Possibly because E is fairly close in age and I would never in a billion years dream of behaving in this way. (not saying we don't play dress up, but this is a whole different ball game. Hideous.....)

They had one of those in a hotel we stayed in in America and it would honestly kill you to see the children and the pushy parents behind them

Ughr, hideous, that woman contradicts herself so many times in that article. She says she's not forcing her to do anything, yeah right lady so that's why you have to change her earrings and appy her nails while she sleeps!!

I HATE this, i didn't read the article but the pictures are enough

It just makes me so sad and I agree it's 'disturbing', 'beauty' contests give me the heebie jeebies anyway but dressing little girls up like strippers is just...I don't know what it is actually but it makes my skin crawl.

Didn't read the article as I've read before how these mothers try to justify what they do to their poor children

The little girl is lovely without all the make-up and garb - just so sad and yes, disturbing.

The mother is totally confused and selfish. The poor father has to work two jobs to fund the pageant crap, and his wife's hobby is parading their daughter around like a tarty dwarf. I suppose he could put a stop to it if he didn't like it though.

I must say, I'd have loved the glitz and glam when I was 4, but only for a day, and without the spray tan and false nails.
