Ride on or trike for 2 year old?

My boy (almost 2) is just starting to love ride ons but I'm assuming will grow out of them quickly?

Yet he seems very small for a trike (am thinking the type with parent handle). At the same time, he tries to get on his sister's 'big bike'....

(already has the little cosy coupe car, which he adores.)

    Which would you rec?

    Balance bike

They can ride them from two. DD2 will get hers (DD1's old one!) on her 2nd birthday.

She does like the trike but tbh it's a PITA pushing it around as pedalling comes alot later on, but then as you say they don't get too much use cos they soon progress to a balance bike/bike with stabilisers.

If you can get a trike cheap/from freecycle it's probably worth it.

Trike. Ride ons became redundant very early in this house! So a r.o may be a waste of money.

Not sure. Elena was on her trike with a parent handle from about 18m, but Abigail(almost 2) just isn't interested. She has a scuttlebug that she used indoors & loves. It also has the added bonus of folding flat.

What about one of those little tykes cosy coupe cars. All the kids go mad for those at the playgroup & they seem to have a pretty good life span as they don't have pedals (from 18m-4).

I'm quite interested in hearing more about these balance bikes. Who sells them?

ETA: just noticed he already has a car!

Anna still absolutely adores her cheapy ride-on car for indoors - she uses it all the time, although she's starting to get a bit big for it so I asked my Dad to buy her a wheely-bug for her 3rd birthday. It's the bigger size and is supposed to be from 3-5 but I can't see why a 2yo couldn't ride the larger size as it doesn't seem very big to me.

Either a trike with a parent handle (Thomas had a Kettler one from about 2yrs 4 months) or Wheelybug if it is a ride-on for when at home. That gets played with every day.

*hijack*- meant to reply to your other thread- if you're going for a 20" with the intention of it lasting a while I'd get the gears . Doesn't have to be flash but will get her used to changing up and down.*/hijack*

Thanks all - I'm not familiar with the wheelybug DJ but will have a look now... I'm veering towards the trike.

You can get them cheaper- I think Jojomamanbebe do them for under £50?

Ours really has been worth the money, it's been used far more than the scooter/trike/bike with stabilisers put together , and is still in fantastic condition.
