Entertainment ideas for 3rd birthday party needed...

We are trying to plan Tilly's third birthday party and have only got so far as to hire out a local hall

I am really struggling to think of what i can do to entertain the kids as am guessing throwing them in the hall and shutting the door is not the done thing

We can obviously do stuff like pass the parcel and Tilly really wants a pinata but apart from that what else can they do??

Was thinking given that her birthday is so close to chirstmas i could do christmas craft things with them but have no clue as to what....

    HELP?

It was for a 4th birthday, but we did - bouncy castle, food and cake, few quick games (pas the parcel, musical statues and bumps), bit more bouncy castle, home. Worked really well

Decorate a mini xmas cupcake? Decorate a big cardboard xmas tree with sweetie papers, glitter etc? then they could all have their photo taken by it and it could be the thank you card?

Cupcakes could be good - do you think let them ice them or ice them in advance and jsut take lots of Xmassy bits to put on top???

Sounds perfect. For L's 3rd birthday we hired a room and played music and had food - no games or anything! She had a great time!

We're doing soft play for Matthew's so that I don't have to think of entertainment ideas.

I like the cupcake idea though - Matthew would love that Or shaped Christmas biscuits for them to decorate, although that requires effort from you.

You could maybe get someone to do face painting? I like the bouncy castle idea too.

Icing/decorating biscuits, or any painting/drawing/arty stuff.

I found though, in the main, 3yo birthday parties consist of them all running round like lunatics, incapable of following any sort of instructions, eating any sweets/cake/crisps, and completely ingnoring any sandwiches or healthy alternatives

They'll have a ball just running around, so I wouldn't worry too much

Totally agree with Micah We had F's 3rd birthday party at home and did biscuit decorating - we used squeezy icing tubes and then the usual cake sprinkles/balls etc, pass the parcel and we had some pirate ship decorating kit but never got round to it as they were all running around playing with balloons/cars etc

This is our list of activities to have at M's part next week:

pinata - making it out of paper mache around a balloon, ours is going to be a fish
name badges made with self adhesive letters - will 'hide' letters around the room, children have to find the letters for their name and stick them onto their badge (will need parental help I expect)
    hoopla
    pass the parcel
    pin the tail
bubble popping - giant bubble wrap for them to stamp on
fishing - paddling pool, magnetic rods and will make some fish out of funky foam
    musical chairs/islands
    temporary tattoos
    balloons
bear hunt - as in the book 'We're all going on a Bear Hunt', getting them to run around the room doing the actions.

A lot of the bits came from Baker Ross/Yellow Moon - great for ideas!

I've also bought a 'Roly Poly' from elc, it's a giant inflatable ring thing which a child can roll around in. I don't expect we'll do everything on the list but we're also having the party in a hall so I'm a bit worried about not having toys there for them to just play with and fill any voids.
