home-made painting smock for school
I am feeling very pleased cos I have already got a painting smock ready for her starting school.
We were told the Primary Ones need something to wear for messy art/craft in school, and they suggested one of Dad's old shirts. Well DH is not a big man, takes a small/medium in most clothes, but even so, his shirt was mahoosive on DD. So I have altered it - I cut 6" off the sleeves, and hemmed them and put in elastic. Then I put a full-length dart in the middle of the back to narrow it a bit, and a dart on each front too. I chopped off the collar, so it is mandarin style. have sewn in the name tag, and voila......it is ready!
See I have memories of wearing one of my Dad's shirts at primary school, and even by Primary4 it was still huge, and don't want DD to drown inhers like i did. My Dad's shirt was a charming salmon pink colour with long collar, made of finest polyester. (It was 1976
