. sweating at night post natally

ugh. I know I sweated last time around after dd was born but am sure it's worse this time
is it something that happens to most people? anyone care to tell me when it might stop? I guess it's some hormonal change
it's my top half, head, chest etc and I just feel icky and bored of it frankly
(DS is 3 weeks old by the way)

I think I suffered with this for about 6 weeks. Noone had told me about it beforehand but apparently it is quite normal and I seem to remember being told it was worse if you were breastfeeding...
Hope you don't have to suffer too much longer barley.

Are you breastfeeding? i think its something to do with prolactin and milk production which is at its most productive during the night.

As far as I know there isn't very much you can do about it as it is hormonal.

I still get this now even though I am cutting down on the breastfeeding and imagine it won't stop until I finish feeding.

Sorry not to be more help!

Oh my word the things you find out on Damsels!

I woke up last night and my pillow and sheet were soaking wet with sweat. It has never happened to me before and I was a bit and about it tbh.

My little one is five weeks tomorrow and I am also bf.

    Oh, I remember this now.

And how everything smells faintly of breastmilk!

My HV recommended taking vitamin E supplements, and also Red Clover but that was after I stopped BFing so check for contraindications.

What I want to know is why do NONE of the books warn you about this? I thought there was something wrong with me when I woke up with the sweats after I had Henry! I can't remember how long they went on for but I remember I kind of missed them when they stopped after I'd had Betty

I hated this, I had seriously heavy nightsweats for months after, in the end I started putting a clean nightie on the end of the bed every night so it became almost auto pilot to wake, strip get changed turn pillow over and back off to sleep again...it was awful.

This happened to me too, and I had no idea it would. It was only when I saw Muso a couple of weeks after giving birth that she said she was sweaty too (sorry Muso ) and we were both BF.

It stopped ages ago and I'm still BF.
