sweating at night post natally
ugh. I know I sweated last time around after dd was born but am sure it's worse this time
is it something that happens to most people? anyone care to tell me when it might stop? I guess it's some hormonal change
it's my top half, head, chest etc and I just feel icky and bored of it frankly
(DS is 3 weeks old by the way)

Re: sweating at night post natally
Are you breastfeeding? i think its something to do with prolactin and milk production which is at its most productive during the night.
As far as I know there isn't very much you can do about it as it is hormonal.
I still get this now even though I am cutting down on the breastfeeding and imagine it won't stop until I finish feeding.
Sorry not to be more help!

Oh my word the things you find out on Damsels!
I woke up last night and my pillow and sheet were soaking wet with sweat.
It has never happened to me before and I was a bit
and
about it tbh.
My little one is five weeks tomorrow and I am also bf.

What I want to know is why do NONE of the books warn you about this? I thought there was something wrong with me when I woke up with the sweats after I had Henry!
I can't remember how long they went on for but I remember I kind of missed them when they stopped after I'd had Betty

Re: sweating at night post natally
I thought it was related to water retention in pregnancy. I had this both times in the first couple of weeks after the birth.

I had this too. It's so horrible, but on the nights that I would drink loads of water before going to bed, it wasn't quite as bad... still bad, but just not as bad. It lasted a few weeks, but felt like forever at the time. Lack of sleep plus sweating at night wasn't a good combination, but it does get better as time goes on.

Did you breastfeed *exclusively* for six months?
