Clothes that old people wear, what will be old peoples clothes when we are old?

My parents are 58/59 and there is no way on this earth they will start to wear clothes like my Grandparents did or shop in Ethel Austin, etc. My Dad still wears Vans trainers, jeans, baseball caps rather than old man caps/hats, etc.
My Mum wears clothes from DPs, NEXT, etc and I can't see her changing anytime soon although I know she is quite concious about covering some parts of her body.
Do you think that knee length A line skirts with elasticated waists, trousers with narrow bottoms and slightly too short will no longer be the uniform of older women? What will we wear instead? Perhaps our Grandchildren will laugh as our jeans are too long as the fashion has changed again.

I'm not sure what Ethel Austin is, is it full of drip dry or stay press clothing?

My inlaws did too, they were only 61/62 when they died but appeared so old compared to my parents.

Whereas old people nowadays wear beige, the oldies of 30-40 years time will wear black
After all, it goes with everything
The generation in between will just wear ill-fitting pale denim jeans

I saw an old man in the post office, I actually thought he was my grandad for a while (but he is dead so slightly impossible
) He had the TYPICAL old man outfit on, and I was
as to where he woudl even GET that kind of get up. It was the brown trousers, slightly too short, crease down the front
, brown velcro shoes, beige anorak and tweed flat cap.
My mum was getting older fairly gracefully and at 50 getting a bit more daring, I think cause she had a bit more money to play with when clothes shopping.
I'd like to be a slightly toned down Debbie Harry or Helen Mirren. i love all that sculpural stuff Helen Mirren wears, it really suits her, and I think that is cause of her age.
Basically I won't be giving a feck... or wearing beige EVER. I don't want to be a Per Una lady

This kind of relates to something I've been thinking lately - when do older people suddenly decide to turn into old biddies? My mum is in her 70s and doesn't dress in elasticated gear. OK, a lot of her clothes come from M&S but she still wears jeans and trainers and long-sleeved t-shirts and stuff. Why is she not getting her hair 'set' every week and wearing the obligatory beige elasicated waist skirts with a nice comfy shoe from K Shoes, when I see other women who are probably younger than her dressing like that (bear in mind that someone who is now 70 was in their 20s right through the '60s... man!?

Oooh don't you think we will just wake up one day, and come on here and ask on the Fashion boards where's the best place to buy furry brown zipper ankle boots! And beige anoraks, thick brown stockings, et al. including the must-have tartan shopping trolley thing, plastic spotty rain cover for over our perms, deals on Sterodent tablets.

Imagine the Thread topics!

I often wonder the same thing.
My mum is only 45 but her wardrobe contents make me look and feel about 60
I certainly do not think she will ever wear beige or elasticated clothing.
