Need advice from an outsider (sterlisation)
I know im not here much but im in abit of a tiff with all this and need to hear it if you like from strangers if that makes sense

Ok im booked to be sterlised on thursday i have my family 3 daughters 10,6 and 3 how ever i know its something that needs to be done but i am simply shi**in it ive never had an operation i know its nothin major its just the whole being put to sleep dunno just scared, but then chloe (10) has cried and cried she doesnt want me to go and scared now she doesnt know everythin ive told her its nothin i be home by bedtime ect but tonight she has sobbed she doesnt want me going and im now in 2minds is it really worth all the stress will she kinda get over it and be fine i dont know how to tackle it i know some may think silly telling her but mine and her metal health have been through enough and CAHMS have told me to always be honnest with her.Sorry dont mean to ramble.

Okay, so presuming that you are 110% certain that you want to be sterilised, is the real fear here that of having a general anaesthetic, do you think? If so, would it be possible for you to have the operation done with an epidural or spinal block instead, if you'd prefer that? I know the idea of being awake during an op freaks some people out, but the area would be shielded from your sight, and you wouldn't feel any pain. The anaesthetist will give you sedative medication if necessary to relax you, but you wouldn't lose consciousness.
I think you need to ask some questions beforehand about what would be best for you. I share your nervousness of GAs, and have only ever been operated on under a spinal. I think it depends what you feel you'd be most comfortable with.
