Kick ass punishments/consequences for preschoolers +

So I didn't want to hijack PF's thread but I was thinking I have a few top "consequences" these days if the eldest tries it on. Probably not that inventive but she has been kept off a party (present sent still), not taken to a playdate (her suggestion she knew she had been bad) and once made it out the door in her pj's - wouldn't dress herself at all and then did very quickly.

My nephew was telling me about my sis's genius idea of "boot camp" if you are really really bad (she has had to do it once apparently) where you are on basic rations - so no snacks and just your meal and fruit though obviously as much as you want to eat, no tv, no ds etc etc for 24 hours - I am keeping that one in reserve

So any more ideas to add to my repertoire?

The only thing we've done really is a chocolate/sweet ban for a week.

Are you me?

DD has missed a party, she has missed play dates, she has missed ballet, gym an riding (but she only missed that once)

She has TV, DS, PC time taken away (at the moment all three girls that I have here are on a one day TV ban for lying to me about a bar of chocolate, the oldest is is 11 so should know better)

I do have to say that I am a bit of a hard ass mammy / childminder!

Oh and DD had dinner taken away as she wouldn't sit at the table to eat it, so it went in the bin!

I'm not sure this is kick ass but for my older one this works almost better than time out for him. I give a favoured toy time out - on the shelf up high. I add on time if there is further bad behaviour. Toy time out has stretched to a day.

I have cancelled playdates too for bad behaviour which does cause some upset but gets the point across.

Poppy is currently on her second morning of no tv due to naughty behaviour the night before. She loves to watch the Disney channel whilst eating her breakfast in the mornings, I'm hoping not being able to will have a positive effect on her! I have just printed out the Supernanny reward chart (spotted mention of this on another thread!), which we are going to colour in together tonight and start using, I'm hoping this will have a positive effect on her. She can be really good but when it comes to getting ready for bed at night she just goes crazy and the last half an hour or so that she is up she is in constant trouble, I hate her going to bed like this.

A bit younger, but no bedtime story, turning the tv off and the threat of "thinking time" i.e. sitting in the hall by himself for 2 mins are the things that work here.

The hardest thing is finding something that I'm prepared to follow through with - cancelling a playdate is punishment for me too as I don't get to see my friends!

No swimming for Nicole when she doesn't let me change her nappy and get her dressed in time to go swimming! It starts at 0900 and is 20 miles each way so what with school traffic we need to pull our fingers out to get ready.

I have everything ready the night before, but she plays silly beggars/kicks/screams blah blah so I tell her if she doesn't get dressed, we can't go swimming. So we don't !

If she chucks toys at me or stamps on the toy deliberately, then the toy gets put on a high place for the day.

I don't do the naughty step.

I hate lying. I also start at work by saying tell me the truth you get one punishment, lie to me and I'll send you home and then we'll start on dealing with what you've done...

I've not had to do anything yet!

Apart from the hug hold and walk away.

We can't withdraw TV as she doesn't have it or chocolate

Standard things will be: no swimming, silent time, and being ignored , no play date, toys away etc...........

Top punishment here is No bedtime story at the mo. Both my boys love storytime and we all clamber into bed together for it

L ran away on the pavement on Wednesday and was devastated to have no story ..... he went to bed in tears, and lay there thinking about what he had done. I think it is good for him to reflect on what he did wrong, and hopefully think before he does it again (and then wont do it!)

For a 'serious' thing, like L on Wed, it is a 2 night ban, so poor L had to endure going to bed storyless again last night...... and lie there listening to his brother have a story

I love the idea of a 'toy prison' though from PF thread ........ defiantely next on the list for us once the boys stop responding to the story ban threat!
