Re: Remind me- when does the 10 movements a day thing kick in?
I don't know - hope someone comes along soon that can enlighten us

Is this a fairly new thing?? I don't remember this last time around

Said little creature formed of joy and mirth,
Go; Love without the help of anything on earth

I always thought that it was much later in pregnancy - like 35 weeks when you started counting the movements. I think because they are less able to move freely by then, as long as you feel 10 a day everything is assumed to be OK.
I could be wrong though

I think it's from week 28, but if you're feeling lots of movement you shouldn't need the test

Also I don't think it's a rule by any means, but something to bear in mind if you start worrying about the amount of movement you are feeling.xx Hermie xx

A quick google seems to imply that it's starting to be recommended as routine screening now so ignore my 2nd statement in the post above!

I heard about this before but it hasn't been mentioned to me by my GP or consultant yet and I'm 28 weeks.

Re: Remind me- when does the 10 movements a day thing kick in?
The only time it was mentioned to me was when the MW couldn't find a heartbeat and she asked when I last remembered feeling a movement. It had been at least 6 hours since I could remember feeling anything so they sent me for monitoring and asked me to keep a record of the number of kicks. I was definitely in the 3rd trimester at that point.
