Adjusting to maternity leave
... okay so it's officially only my first day but I've felt so tense all day.
I have done loads of cleaning and need to do writing. I've been out and got a few things organised and slept til 10 this morning (after a VERY disturbed night)..
.. But I feel all out of sorts. I'm very tense and anxious. I know it's a mixture of not knowing when the baby will arrive (apart from "in about 4 weeks") and my work situation which is still unresolved.
But I'm worried I'm going to get more tense and more anxious - which is making me more tense and more anxious.
I'm going to try listening to the hynobirthing CD Skylark so kindly sent me this evening - in my room with candles etc. I've fresh sheets on the bed and the room has been cleaned so it should be really relaxing, I hope.
But stress and all, I really miss work - and the routine of it. Even though physically and emotionally I was sooooo ready to finish.
Anyone else struggling to relax on mat leave - or I am a freak?
I didn't have any problems at all relaxing when I finished to have J and that was at 34 weeks.Mum, writer, occasional nutcase.

Re: Adjusting to maternity leave
I've not been able to relax until everything was ready for the baby tbh, which was last night when Mr B put the cot up. It is really hard when you're used to a structure; maybe make a new one for yourself, set hours for housework, writing, Damselling etc?

Re: Adjusting to maternity leave
I think I am going to do that Mrs B.
Joseph is on mid term this week so I'm trying to enjoy spending quality time with him.
Also, yes we have nothing ready for the baby. We have everything in - but not organised at all (partly because I'm nervous taking all the pink out of the wrappings just in case they were wrong!
)
But we don't even have the crib yet. My sister borrowed it for her wee man and it's not been returned yet (he's still sleeping in it...) I feel like an evil landlord evicting him, but I know I'll relax more when she has a bed to sleep in!!!

Re: Adjusting to maternity leave
RP - I really have to write and am avoiding it, so I think that is contributing to the stress. Am determined to do some tonight though so I should get a wee high from that.
I want to book a Reiki session so will do it tomorrow!

Lovely! You deserve a treat before the baby is born

I found reflexology was wonderful the first time around and fully intend to do it again for this one.
