I'm going to see someone this weekend I've not seen for ten years!

Hello folks, I have a work leaving do on Saturday night and I have found out this girl I went to school with is going to be there cos she worked there since we left school until a couple of years go (before I started).

Now, many years ago, me and her were best best friends, always at each others houses, went everywhere together you know the deal. But then towards the end of school, we had a big group of girls we hung around with and it kind of got split in two, her in one, me in the other. Her "group" were quite nasty to my group, they used to write wee notes to each other about us, had nicknames for us all, etc. But then towards the end of school, the group kind of merged back with some lads and we were all kind of friends again, but I was always a bit wary of the girls from the other group.

So when I left school, I pretty much lost touch with everyone from school, I am totally fine with this, I made no effort to keep in touch with people as I had good friends from my work and was happy enough with them.

But now I have found out about this girl being there on this night out and I am so nervous about seeing her! I've put on about two stone since I left school, I feel like a bit fat heffer, and I dont know what to say to her. I just think its going to be really awkward and part of me does not want to go because of her.

I am getting so worked up about this!!!!!! I guess I still associate her with all the bitchiness that went on at my school, I'm not blaming her, but she was involved in it. I am so nervous!!!!!!!

If this is going to be a work do then ther'll be loads of people there so you probably won't be forced into spending all evening in her company alone. Also, she might not recognize you or she might be just as nervous as you.

I certainly wouldn't avoid the situation 'just in case' - I'm sure both of you have changed since the school days and it might not be as bad as you think.

ETA - I'm sure you are not a 'fat heffer' at all

Just look incredibly happy. It always confuses and impresses them!

Your memory of her has stopped 10 years ago but surely she isn't the bichy schoolgirl anymore(hopefully for her) you both have changed.Look and act confident and definitely don't avoid going just on her account !
    * she might not even be there
*you can say a quick hello and move on to other people
*big chances she has matured a lot and will be very nice to you..
*she probably put 3 stones on
*See it as a little challenge and you will be proud once you have faced it.

It was so nice, honestly, we got on really well. I think I will get her email address from someone I know that knows her, then maybe drop her a wee email every now and again.
