And the rest of the catering was nothing to do with me

Right this is what I spent my evenings last week doing (and two hours icing it on Sat with the help of my DH

they all thought the cake itself was divine (I was a bit

that they all seemed exceptionally surprised)

It doesn't actually look as big as it was irl - the bottom tier is 12 inches in diameter!

Oh and the 40 on the top are actually sparklers

wow! That's quite a cake, well done...though am slightly distracted by what looks like a bowl of krunchy puffs in the background...that's a lot of 5p bags!

What have you decorated it with? And (details, details), did you just stack the cakes on top of each other or were they resting on something?
