Ebay - is it worth the effort?
I have never sold anything on here, I know a few of you are very big on this (noo noo springs to mind). I worry that the hassle of cleaning things, taking pictures, weighing them for postage, listing them - then posting them out makes it not worthwhile if you only make a wee bit. But then just LOOK at how much Miss SCs boots went for

I'll be selling old clothes (nothing as in demand as those boots though!) and baby clothes/toys - will it be worth my effort? Will I make enough to put aside and do something decent with? (say, Xmas pressies)...

Re: Ebay - is it worth the effort?
I guess it depends....
How much time and effort do you want to put in? And how much is your time worth? I don't live that near my PO so going a couple of times a week would be a pita for me. I just list stuff once in a while. I find the whole listing process incredibly tedious (though NooNoo uses turbo lister when I installed it on the puter it made it crash
) I have made a wee bit of money but I'd have probably given the stuff to charity/freecycled it. So I feel bad
Now I'm not working I have more spare time so I'm trying to sell things on classifieds here and may restart selling on ebay. Not to make much money, just to declutter!
THere are a few things you can make a lot of money on - Scatterbrain used to buy vintage lego sets at carboots and sell them on for reasonable amounts if I remember rightly.....
No harm trying and if it doesn't suit don't bother any more!

Re: Ebay - is it worth the effort?
A couple of things I will say (having started Ebaying myself in the past 6 weeks) It takes a while to upload everything. I didnt realise how long it would take. (If I have say, 10 things to list, it could take an hour - maybe thats just me being slow/giving too much info on the listings!)
Make sure you KNOW how much it will cost you to post. You dont want to charge extortionate prices as this will put people off, but likewise you dont want to be out of pocket ! (esp since the royal mail pricing restructure)
Be prepared to let things go for less than you wanted/expected. If you love something, and arent happy for it to sell below a certain price, then put a starting bid on it that you are happy with, or try buy it now.
I have so far sold about 10 books, and several baby items, and made near on £100 - which I am keeping to buy Lulah new clothes with.
I will be listing a load more stuff before we go on hols, and hope that that money will help towards xmas pressies.I got a bottle of Jack Daniels tonight for my Husband... bloody good trade if you ask me

I always think it sounds a pita to do. For selling baby/children's clothes, maternity clothes and toys, I used my local NCT Nearly New sale - the NCT takes a cut, but I used to make a fair bit. Are you a member of the NCT book_lover?
More recently, I have given two single beds and a sofa to a local charity - which gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside, and tbh, we didn't really need the cash we would have got from selling them.
I loathe PayPal, which also puts me off ebay.Dilly xx

Hmmmm - may give it a go then, but if it DOES take an hour to upload ten things, I'll give up pretty quickly!

Re: Ebay - is it worth the effort?
YES!!!
I sold our double buggy (£122
which only cost 170 new) and loads of baby stuff i dont want to keep. I kept all the 'nice' outfits but did bundles of vests/babygrows etc. Also sold a jacket of mine (Paul Smith diffusion line, bought in sale, hardly worn) and a few tops that dont fit anymore.
All in All I got £350 back for stuff we wont miss.
I thin it is worht it for :
designer gear
'trendy' stuff
bundles of kids clothes
unworn kids stuff - presetns you dont like
stuff in your wardrobe you dont wear anyomore
