NRR: Bibi's nappy rash is getting worse...

It's now spread to her tinky and around her anus as well as on her bottom cheeks.

    It's not bleeding yet.

I'm going to have to take a deep breath and where possible leave her nappy off and just clear up the mess .

Does anyone know if it's possible for nappy rash to clear up while the poo is still toxic?

ohh that sounds so painful for the little one. Sorry Minky I don't have experience of nappy rash but if it is that bad I would be thinking about getting a nurse or a doc have a look at it.

Hope the nappy free time doesn't cause too much mess for you!!!

My DD had a really bad nappy rash when she was a baby, she had very runny poos due to the rota virus and it got to the point where it was bleeding, what worked for me was leaving the nappy off completely and then using whatever cream you have once you put the nappy back on.

    Hope she's better soon x

What are you putting on it Minky? It might be worth getting your HV or GP to look at it as it may require a prescription for cannesten or anti-bacterial cream.

    Poor wee soul.

Poor mite. When it got to the super sore time, I used drapolene on it and then smothered them in vaseline. Only use cottton wool and water. the vaseline helps keep the drapolene in place long enough for it to have the chance to work and protect the rash from wee and poo.

Grim I know but has worked for us. But I'd def go and get it checked by the doc. they will prescibe what you need.

When DS had terrible terrible (we got to the bleeding stage) nappy rash the only thing that touched it was Metanium. Fabulous stuff, I got it in Tesco.

James: yes, used it last time and the tube is all gone!

Skerry: have some clotrimazole and used it x 3 yesterday but it's had no impact. Will continue to use it.

Am currently using metanium underneath and kamillosan on top, but tonight tried Burt's Bees as recommended by Micah.

Cleaning bottom with chamomile tea mixed with lavender oil and grapeseed oil (using old facecloths), and put chamomile tea in the bath.

I'm all out of ideas .

We found Metanium the best for Ollie too.
That mixed with as much nappy free time as you can & lashings of vaseline at every nappy change

Hope it clears up soon for her

Try the GP for a steroid cream. If it's thrush, a combined antifungal and steroid cream. Will heal it faster.

Re: the mess - plastic sheet on the floor, playpen on top of that, chuck in some towels and washable toys. Get in there with her when you can so she doesn't go stir crazy. Depending on how bad a mummy you are, plonk the whole setup in front of the telly.

Re: the facecloths - at this stage I just hose down with a very gentle lukewarm shower spray. I don't wipe with anything at all.

    :gentlehugs: to bibi and you.
