Well Thomas DOESN'T have diabetes
Had his test results back today (was tested for this as he's been bedwetting and DH is diabetic) and thankfully he isn't diabetic. He does have keytones in his wee though so they want to re-test in a week. Not quite sure what that means (have had a look on the net, starvation and metabolic disorders were mentioned), so we will just have to see what next week holds and take it from there.
We also have to HV coming Monday afternoon along with the nurse about his eating (he hasn't been as bad this week though, at the risk of tempting fate).

Re: Well Thomas DOESN'T have diabetes
Oh I must have missed a thread?
Well in one way you know what it isnt, but answers are needed. Wish you well for a home visit. I can't see any problems though? Nothing that will sort out in the future.

Florence i am sure that you are really relieved that your little boy does not have diabetes. I hope you get some more good news when they test again in a few weeks.

Re: Well Thomas DOESN'T have diabetes
Glad he is all clear for diabetes and fingers crossed that the keytones aren't indicative of anything too serious.

Re: Well Thomas DOESN'T have diabetes
That's a relief for you.
I don't know much about ketones, but my urine was tested for them a lot when I had a bad stomach bug when I was pregnant. Then, they were indicating starvation and/or dehydration. As soon as I started eating and drinking normally, they disappeared. They appeared once more when the midwife did a routine urine sample, that time because I'd been rushed off my feet and hadn't eaten at all or had much to drink all morning.
It could be that when Thomas's sample was taken he hadn't had much to eat or drink. It's not necessarily a sign of anything major.
