    Vietnamese River Cobbler........

    Wish me luck
After watching a programme about fish stocks (or lack of) last week DH is rather taken with the idea of alternatives to cod etc
We went to the fish counter and encountered Vietnamese River Cobbler- a fleshy white fish fillet taht looked for all the world like a cod fillet

It is in the oven as we speak and i am just waiting for himself to return from Footie to eat it (keels over)
Im a bit scared. I hope its ok............

I saw this in Tescos the other day.

    How was it?

I quite like it, though I've seen it described as very bland ... it has nice and firm flesh though

There are issues with it though ... airmiles, for one, and also high levels of insecticide/artificial chemicals used by the fish farms there

It was ok........very firm but a bit "boingy" (I dont like monkfish cos its boingy- im sure someone will get what I mean ) it was a subtle flavour and I think it would be really nice with my tomato sauce I usually do with cod........it was a bit plain just with oil and lemon.
Jurys still out for me- I wouldnt have it over say a nice tuna steak....
