Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
As opposed to carpet

DH has been utterly dead set against it and wants carpet in the bedrooms.
I absolutely agree that carpet has a nicer feel under bare feet but as far as I can see that's the only pro
And can be easily remedied by wearing a pair of slippers!
I'm sure there are lots of other cons to having hard floors and I'm being obtuse (nothing new there then
) but as far as I can see there are a lot more pros.
Anyone care to share their experiences?
We've just had Quickstep put on our landing today (Which DH was also dead set against) and it looks utterly great (and he agrees and so I've spotted a chink in his carpet armour and fully intend to exploit it!!) and I would love it in the bedrooms as well.
Thanks for any pointers.

Re: Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
Falling out of bed hurts more
Dust under the bed=nightmare
feels less "luxurious"

Re: Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
Pros - in kids bedrooms its easy to clean up sick.
Can be cosy with the addition of rugs.
Looks good.
Cons - dust balls under the bed,
bit cold underfoot
sweeping AND mopping (vs. just vacuuming).

Re: Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
We've got quick step in our bedroom with a couple of rugs to soften the look and make it slightly more cosy underfoot.
From a very practical point of view it is more durable and avoids any stained carpet accidents. It is also loads easier to clean and imho probably more hygienic as all the dust etc does not settle into the carpet, especially good if you are prone to dust allergies and the like, though thinking about it not sure that is going to swing it with your DH!

Err- if you dtd on the floor instead of the bed its uncomfy and you lose traction

Put rugs by the bed and that solves the main con...
I loved my hard floors in the last house (sanded floorboards), much prefer to carpet. So much easier to keep clean
I suppose it's less comfy for the children to play, but again rugs, which can be rolled up to play trains
PP I get loads of dust under the bed with carpets, with the disadvantage I can't just sweep it out...

Re: Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
DH has just gone to say goodnight to Emma - I think soundproofing is an issue in her room, but not sure of the quality of the laminate in there. (Hers is laminate, the rest carpet)

Re: Pros and cons of hard floors in bedrooms
I was going to say noise and temperature. Hard floors are noisier and colder.
TBH I love hard floors for the living areas but prefer carpet in the bedroom. I love being cosy and snug!
