Re: Canada??
Oooo, I am so jealous. We got back from Toronto 5 weeks ago - its such a beautiful country. Toronto itself isnt much cop to be honest with you, just a big city.
Definately hire a car and drive to Niagara, should take about 2 hours max, on lovely country roads - Niagara Falls are spectacular. The Maid of the Mist is $14 each so £7, and its definately worth doing. There are lovely cheap places to stay there as well.
Shopping is a must as well - everything is half price over there as its $2 to the £1.......
Anything you want to know - just ask?! When are you going?
Sooooo jealous.....you will love it there - H and I have plans to move there eventually

Re: Canada??
I'm glad someone else answered the question about the drive to Niagara as it's such a long time ago I can't remember!
Don't expect much from Niagara - the town. It's the pits really! Your typical, tacky, 'seaside' type place. But the falls are spectacular and shouldn't be missed. Go to a place called Niagara on the Lake which isn't far away from the falls. It's a lovely little place, reminded me of the Cotswolds somehow! We went on a speedboat over some rapids there and got soaked - it was great fun!
ETA For more ideas have a look on the Trailblazers website and see what they do on their organised tours. Not saying you should book one, just look for ideas.

Re: Canada??
We didn't find it particularly cheap! I thought the prices were pretty much the same as they are here, except for petrol which is much cheaper there.
