I have decided...
And have told Mr Minky
that I will give it until the end of the year, and then if I am not pg by then, that I will be officially giving up and accepting that we're only getting one miracle baby in our lives.
I suppose what I have really decided is that I'll give another IVF a go with the ARGC if they say that it's worth it. The chances of me conceiving naturally are really low so it's incredibly stupid for me to get my hopes up every month.
If I were five years younger it would be another story
but now that I'm
erm 43 I have to be realistic about what is possible.
So. A bit pointless really, not sure why I'm posting this other than that it's good to see it written down

Re: I have decided...
Sounds like a good plan to me Minky - personally I feel that if you don't give the ARGC a go you'll always wonder 'what if?'.
It goes without saying that I wish you all the luck in the world.

Re: I have decided...
To be honest Minky, I think it is a good decision. I know it must be very hard for you (my sister had to come to a similar decision but for slightly different reasons) but there comes a point when you need to move your life on if you know what I mean and I think there is an element of TTC that holds everyone back, when you are TTC it is what is on your mind a lot of the time.
Fingers crossed that your last attempt at IVF works for you and you get the second miracle baby you deserve.

Re: I have decided...
That's a very brave decision and one you've obviously really thought about. I agree with Woolly that if you don't try the ARGC then you'll always wonder "what if ?"
Best of luck with it and I hope it works out for you

Re: I have decided...
I think its probably for the best in that i think its TOO much to keep taking on every month. I REALLY hope that the next lot of IVF goes well and that you get the 2nd baby you and Mr Minky deserve
Who knows, if you're more chilled about it because you're not thinking about it so much, it might just "happen" :fingerscrossed"BIL & SIL have come to a decision over the weekend too, although theres was because they had bad news with their IVF, she had NO eggs at all and has been told she has 2 options, use a donor which there is a 2 yr waiting list for or adopt. I think she's decided that she doesn't want to continue the IVF, its really messed her up and she's gained loads of weight and its made her ill, they're planning on adopting but they're taking a year off 1st and having a fab holiday in the Maldives as a treat for themselves.PS: October will be here before you know it!

It is understandable that you have set yourself a limit (I have my fingers crossed that you will have a funky bun...or two baking before then

Re: I have decided...
I think that's a really brave decision Minky. I guess there has to be some cut off point, otherwise you might make yourself miserable with all the ups and downs of ttc, and it's got to take its toll on you and your family.
Fingers crossed for the ARGC!

Re: I have decided...
HUGE good luck for your next, SUCCESSFUL!!, attempt!!
But, the mind being what it is, I don't think that you would ever stop hoping each month. So if you were really serious about stopping ttc then you would need to get a coil, or go on the pill. That, I believe, is the only way you would stop symptom spotting and knicker watching.
And if you can't bring yourself to take contraception - then you're not really ready to give up.Last edited by Damsella; 04-08-2006 at 09:16am.
