Have got to give a

to my OH this weekend. Our toilet blocked

and we couldn’t get anyone out under our insurance until mid this week

Anyway, so he managed to not only unblock the loo, but took off the top of one of the external drainpipes and unblocked that. He was basically dodging raw sewage from on top of a step ladder! :yuk: :yuk:

He never used to be any good at DIY, but in the last few years he has got far handier

Unfortunately some of the dirty water ended up showering our French windows so obviously they needed a clean. I was just in the middle of doing that when PILs came round.....my oh so tactless (and plain rude imo) MIL piped up with 'oh C I have never seen you so houseproud'

Feck off you rude cow, I keep my house really nice and clean thank you very much. Just because I am not anal and clean around people when they are trying to relax (hoovering on Christmas Day literally 5 minues after presents had been opened and asking us to move everything upstairs straight away, wiping tables down when you are still actually sitting at them etc).

Even OH admitted that it was a well out of order comment to make. She would never dream of saying that in someone else's house so why is it OK to say it to your DIL?

I think MIL's think DIL's are fair game. I get the finger run over the dust treatment every now and then like it's MY fault the house is dusty. There's two of us who live here!

I'm surprised you didn't turn the hose on her

My ex MIL was exactly the same and I was pretty houseproud just not anal and imo rude about cleaning around people.

I vow never to be a MIL from hell like that. My boys will grow up to learn if they want something cleaning they had better do it themselves.

She 'tactfully' offered the last time to help me with the housework as she could see how much I had 'let things go' since having Alex
