Help me make a decision...police situation and my son
Following from this thread I have now contacted the police.
They advised (well the wpc's opinion) that the means do not justify the ends. Ie What my son would have to go through, would not result in much being done to the actual person.
The school on the other hand are urging me to take it forward and they themselves have reported it to the police as well as the LEA. I had a meeting with the head this morning and she said that that there is no way that the police should have said what they did as it means that they have just shrugged it off as a minor incident. She also wasnt at all happy with the provisions of safety by the afterschool club.
Am just a little bit confused on a way forward
Help!

Re: Help me make a decision...
Oh Hun. What are the police saying he would have to go through then? Do they mean just the 'process' or the fact there might be anamosity with the other family, etc?

Re: Help me make a decision...
He would have to give a statement via video etc. I would imagine that there would be some kind of ID parade or similar.

Re: Help me make a decision...
Hmmm, sounds like it could be tough, but then surely the school would understand how hard it can be to go through that process, and they have an interest in his welfare too, and they seem to be OK with it?
There must be some Damsels on here that have been though a similar police process and know what its like for the LO involved?
I'm sorry you've found yourself in this situation, it blimin sucks that another parent could do that

Re: Help me make a decision...
Right.
For what it is worth my professional opinion is take it further. The school are supportive of this.
What kind of a society are we if we teach our students that when someone does something wrong -it's more hassle to report it and take it further.
It MAY not go any where, but you would be setting an example of what should be done.
You are a fabby mum and will be there to support Jared.
I would INSIST the police take it further and I would also complain now to the local police station and ask to speak to someone higher.
THEY (the police) should be pro-active to doing this and your 'job' should be helping them help support Jared.
On a personal note, Yes too but I'd just like to
the other parent for you too.

ETA Ask the school tp report it to the police and get an interview time today or tomorrow !
