Ok, I am new to this freelance lark.

I got made redundant on maternity leave from a PR role which I didn't really enjoy anyway - so have decided to go it alone.

I'm focusing on copywriting and editing now, as this allows me to work quite flexibly. I'm not planning on putting DS into nursery until I'm fully up and running and making a decent profit. So lots of evening and weekend work in store for me, I think.....

I'm about to get a website set up but for now I'm just doing a few ad-hoc bits and pieces for friends and former colleagues.

I am just getting started with my cupcake business! Theoretically I start trading on the 15th and I don't feel anywhere near ready yet, but I'll get there

At the moment I work one day a week for a friend doing admin/book-keeping stuff, plus I write for a free magazine in Rayleigh, North Carolina. I'm hoping to set up a cupcake business too. I'm edging closer all the time but I really need to contact the council and get on with it.

I work from home running an online store - www.babysigningstore.co.uk The site is in the middle of a revamp, the domain name has just been changed and the logo. My web designer is changing all the buttons and colours some time this week.

I'm a Holistic Health practitioner and am now freelance after having had my own clinic for several years. I really love my Therapies and don't see it as 'work'.......although since having a baby it has to fit around him just now.

I run a messy play toddler group with Moffgal. We're independant and are scaling thinsg down a little at the moment for babies but plan to take over the world at some point in the future.

I'm a children's drama practitioner. I bought the franchise back in April & am just getting going with it all now. Launching officially this half term, taking main bookings for September onwards but am already running a few classes in nurseries. Mainly using this term for marketing, practice & confidence. Exhibiting at the National Childcare & Nursery Show in a couple of weeks & sending out press releases this week so really starting to push it all now.

Dh was made redundant back in April so we have set up a limited company

Dh is doing the actual work, I am doing the bookwork. I am on top of the invoicing I think, and the business account is up and running.

I have sent of to the inland revenue for PAYE stuff so that's the next job.

I also have to figure out a few retrospective receipts- I bought a camera recently which I can put through as Dh uses it for project photo's etc.....

Ooh Jelly that sounds really interesting! I had a quick look at the website but they don't need UK staff right now, otherwise I'd be really tempted. How do you go about getting answers? Is it mostly Google?

As for me, I'm a Phoenix Trader, selling cards, wrapping paper and the like. Got my first school fete next weekend which I'm quite excited about. Going to set up my table with a black tablecloth and some fairy lights.
Bit worried about the tax return form I've hidden in my big folder of "things to do at some point". Are they as scary as they seem?

I am a Behaviour analyst and work mainly with children with autism using ABA (applied behaviour analysis) methodology. I set up programmes for the kids, find tutors to run them, then go back every 4 weeks and check on things and change things to move everything along.
