  • Party/disco playlist for a room full of 5 year olds?

I thought I had managed to delegate this to DH.

So, what else OTHER THAN ABBA would your 5 year old want to dance to at a party?

Maybe a bit of D.I.S.C.O? Ottawan?

      Kung Fu Fighting?

      Aqua's Barbie girl?

All of these were on E's party playlist, and she's currently rather taken with Wham.

She has vintage taste does my girl

What about all the HSM stuff? Mine isn't quite into all that yet, but I know a lot of 5 year olds that are.

Almost anything dancey / dancy is there actually such a word

Try the latest 'Now that's what I call music 73' or whatever number they're on now. It'll have all the latests tracks

I have found that you only need a couple of songs really. For dd's last party, we pretty much did musical chairs, bumps, statues ad nauseam to Rihanna's 'Only Girl in the World.' These were 7-year olds, but don't think it matters much!

Some from experience of DJing the school disco:

          Barbie Girl - Aqua
I Like To Move It - from Madagascar, although I recall dancing it to it in clubs when it actually came out
          Nelly The Elephant
          Okie Kokie (sp?)
The Can Can - Bad Manners
Heads Shoulder Knees and Toes - someone I forget

Some of the Sound of Music is danceable and they seem to like that at this age.

The 7 year olds I know like Michael Jackson.

Or of course... The Birdie Song!

I played it at the school disco, even got them to sit in three teams on the floor It was mediumly successful, and that was with a teacher at the head of each team doing the actions So try it, but have a popular one ready to play if it all goes pear shaped.

                YMCA, yes a good one

My DD's love anything BEP, Katy Perry and Rhianna (only certain songs-explaining certain words to a 5yr old aint good) They love the classics too like YMCA etc, also the cha cha slide always gets them dancing x
