  • Colour test at a salon has burnt my skin :(

Did the test at lunch time yesterday & wiped it off after less than 30mins as it started tingling progressing to burning sensation, now I have a patch of sore skin behind my ear now.

I don't think it's a reaction to the colour, more to the strong mixture that was put behind the ear. Would that be right?
I'll be ringing the salon this morning to see what they say.
It's stinging & sore :( I don't have any other reaction to it.

Wasn't it colour they put behind your ear ?, when I had a colour test they put some behind my ear, wiped it off after about 10/15 mins. Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to it much like yours, but it would have been much worse if I had had it all over my head. I hope it feels better soon Definitely ring them though.

It was more of a paste mix..couldn't be just pure colour, but colour & something else mix.

The colours they use on my hair at the salon are like a paste.
ETA well they're like a thin paste, they put some some white paste in a bowl and then mix colour into it. I'm not very good at the technical stuff

Ouch! Looks sore but thank goodness you had the test first!

Called them and it's a reaction to the colour. They want to see me for a consultation. Offered to do the foils/highlights as it wouldn't touch the skin/scalp but I refused.

What they us for skintests in salon in what they will be using on your hair, so it will be the same measures of colour and peroxide.

It might not happen with all colours, I react like that to wella and l'oreal but not to matrix (which is made by l'oreal)It

might be worth asking them if they only use one type of colour.

I agree with WW, I had a reaction like that to eyelash dye, but I quite happily have highlights on my hair, with no ill effects (and I'm allergic to lots of things - soap, shampoos etc).

OMG that looks so sore. Thank goodness they did a patch test on you - it would have been awful of you'd had full head colour done I hope it heals really quickly and isn't too uncomfortable.

My neice had a terrible reaction to a home dye kit - she looked like she'd been punched in the eyes.

I went back to the salon and they applied a conditioning natural colour that they said would last 10 days. Didnt bother checking my reaction or even concerned about it
The salon chain is called Rush and I would never go back to them, appalling service
I only went to them because DH bought me a three treatment voucher.
Ive had two and they have both been bad experiences.
